Just want you to look into the information out about any products containing ephedra, ephedrine, or Ma Huang.
This is a product that was originally to be used in asthma medications to help clear airways-in larger quantities, it is pretty much "speed," and can be dangerous. It has been known to cause rapid heart palpitations and in some cases stroke. I wholeheartedly recommend not taking any products that contain it. The people at Herbalife will tell you that is is harmless and is all natural, but it is. Not everything natural is good for you-tobacco, marijauna, etc. This is also a product that your body can get accustomed to, and you in turn will have to up your dose to get the same effects. I urge you to look into the available information out there about the risks before you take it, or Metabolife, or any similar products. The decision is yours, but I recommend a balanced eating plan and exercise instead of pills and gimmicks. Aphil |
Short answer. Save your money.
Overpriced crap...there really is no secret to losing fat - here are the basic instructions: 1) Exercise regularly and with intensity. 2) Eat healthy, CLEAN, regularly spaced, balanced meals. 3) Repeat. 4) Make this a LIFESTYLE CHANGE - don't just call it a 'diet'. Instead of WASTING YOUR MONEY on Herbalife or any of the many other 'majic weight loss formulas' out there, I would like to recommend a great book "Your Body Revival" by Dave Draper. Mrs. Jim, I thank you for all the goodie stuff you bring in to the boards. It is always an interesting read, and thought provoking. |

to merri,
i bought a months supply of herbalife too a couple of months ago and i was ready and had the will power to actually do it, however, after the first day i started getting horrible migraines and the person who sold it to me kept telling me that it was "natural" because my body was getting used to the nutrition i was putting into it, but the headaches didnt go away until i went off it, and of course the representative kept trying to tell me they would go away. i decided in the end that as much as i hated that i wasted that money, i could not deal with the headaches. i dont think some of the ingredients are natural at all. now i have about 80 dollars worth of herbalife stuff sitting at the back of the cupboard with everything else i tried that gave me headaches, jitters, and didnt work. its hard to face but the truth is, there is no "magic" solution. my opinion, of course!!:p amy |
LilBinkey,
You are using the Herbalife shakes, correct? That is a bit different thatn the pills, and since you are also using ephedra free. But-You would get the same results using a meal replacement shake like Slim-Fast or Boost and blending a little fruit in, and probably for a lot cheaper. The loss you are experiencing has nothing to do with the Herbalife, it is your total calorie reduction and your exercising-save yourself some money! If you are having htat for breakfast and lunch, and eating WW dinners, the reduced calories is definitely the key. You could also use Carnation instant breakfast and skim milk, and blend in a banana or other fruit, depending on what flavor you buy-bananas are good with chocolate, and other fruits are good with the vanilla or strawberry. Aimee-good for you to stop taking that stuff. You had the headaches to tell you something was wrong, but some people take it for ages and don't have any warning signs at all, until something bad happens...I personally think in my opinion that Herbalife and Metabolife should have been yanked off the shelves right with the Dexatrim original. Is it possible to have a balanced meal without veggies?
|
Well, this is sort of off topic, but you can have a balanced MEAL without veggies, but not a balanced DIET. Menaing you don't need to have them at every meal, but you do need them.
I am quite sure that you have not tried every vegetable out there, or every way of preparing the ones you have tried. Keep trying veggies in new ways. If you get most of your produce in your diet from fruit, take advantage of eating the darker colored ones like red apples, red grapes, plums, cantalaupe, and strawberries for the most nutrients and antioxidants. I have read many of your posts, and it seems to me that you want to eat heealthier, but you have convinced yourself that you do not or will not like healthy foods like fruits, veggies, and whole grain breads and cereals. The lowdown is, you have to change your lifestyle in order to lose weight and keep it off. Make slow changes, such as switching the white bread to whole wheat one week, and then the next to eating two servings of fruit each day, then the next try a new recipe with vegetables-if you have pizza, have thin crust only rather than Deep Dish or Pan. These small changes will become second nature after a while, and these changes, along with exercise, are teh key to lifelong weight loss. Aphil |
