GCBC & Primal
I am mesmerized by Good Calories Bad Calories. How does Taubes research compare with primal? For a variety of reasons both for myself and son who has Crohn's, I have been limiting my grains with much success. I started to wonder about legumes.

I found them quite compatible. I'm on my second reading of Primal Blueprint, and although I was already familiar with "ancestor diets" (Neanderthin, The Paleo Diet, The Paleolithic Prescription, and various anti-grain books), I like that the author, Mark Sisson not only discusses the paleo diet, but other aspects of the paleo lifestyle (activity level, types of exercise, sleep, play, sun-exposure...).
Another book I found very influential was "Refuse to Regain," by Barbara Berkeley. Although the book is aimed at maintenance of weight loss, I think it's an excellent read for anyone even before or at the beginning of weight loss. After all, maintenance begins with the first pound lost. |
