Thanks Jello. I'd feel this way if I were having a root canal for the first time. I just hate not knowing what to expect. I looked at the website Tiff gave, and all the above, the only thing I wasn't, was in mid 40's. But as far as who may get this condition I had 4 of 5 factors.....go figure.

LOL, Hey Jello! When you win, share some of the wealth, OK?
WHY does it seem like everything would be so much easier if I had enough time to do what I want???
~Cafe, in work world and not loving it.
Edited to say: I'm glad you're okay Dyan!! I've never been under the knife either, so I'll be praying for you. Although, think of all the 100's of times every single day someone in your town has anesthesia... (geez I hope I spelled that right) The odds are that things will come off without a hitch.

Dyanm1:
My husband and sister both has their gallbladders removed in the past several month. Both were done laproscopically meaning that the doctor makes 4 punctures: one right over your belly button about a inch or so wide; two on your side the size of a dime; and one on the other side the size of a dime. Very small and very unnoticable after awhile.
My sister had very little pain the day of the operation and left the hospital about 4 1/2 hours after she had the procedure done. She did not even take any pain medication until two days later when the few stitches she has started to pull a bit. You will be out of work for a week, so if you schedule it for a Friday and go in not the next Friday, by the Monday after that you will have 9 days to recuperate. You'll feel well enough to drive after about 4 days.
If for some reason your doctor wants to do it the regular way then you are looking at 3-4 day in hospital and possibly several weeks home from the job, plus lots of stitches or staples depending on what he likes to use. But most doctors don't do this anymore.
My sister got hers done at 260 lbs. and she is only 5'2". So if your doctor says your too heavy for a laproscopic removal of the gall bladder, find someone else, and also try to make sure they have done this procedure several hundred times. My sister's doc perfomed over 2,000 in the past 10 years, so he could do them with his eyes closed. She and I really believe that his long term experience with this procedure made the difference with the pain and recovery management.
My husband had more pain on recovery than my sister, but he is diabetic, and doesn't heal fast.
Good Luck and compared to childbirth my sister said the gallbladder removal was a sneeze!. She had natural childbirth by the way.

Gee whiz.......you guys talk way too fast when I can't get in here. Guess it's just a Monday kinda thing.
Dyan - Sorry to hear you're feel bad, a coworkers wife had her gallbladder removed about 6 months ago and she said she wished she'd had it done long before. An added benefit for her was a large (40 lbs) weight loss afterward. I hope everything goes well for you. Just curious, did they say why this happened?
OK, well times up, talk to you ladies later. Gotta go check the status on Isidore. I sure do hope that things stays far away from here, but dang it they keep saying it's coming.

NO NO NO NO NO....
*stomping my foot*
I want MY gallbladder taken out if I can have a 40 pound weight loss. And they can take my appendix, and all of my female parts, I don't want those anymore either. That should be about 60 pounds total, at least!!!

I know, not funny.

Actually.....you did get a chuckle out of me!
Huntress: On the web page that Tiff gave me it says ~
The following groups have a higher liklihood to develop gallbladder problems:
Women in their 40's
Women after pregnancy (DD is 6 months old. But problem first accured a month after I had her)
Men & women overweight (again , that would be me)
People who eat large amountsof dairy products, animal fats and friend foods (I do love my french fries and hamburgers)
Parents, siblings and children of people w/ gallbladder problems (my mom had hers removed 25 years ago.
so there ya have it......
Well, I'm outta here....I'll try to check in from home.

Hey, when she told me that I wanted mine out too!
Unfortunately it is different for everyone. My sister also had hers out and she didn't lose a thing, well except her ability to eat fatty foods. Terrible thing, when the doc tells you not to eat high fat, DO NOT EAT IT! My sis did not take his advise and when she eats that stuff she has to go potty immediately. Kinda gross if you ask me. The other lady I mentioned does not have this problem, go figure.
Anyhoo, my broken heart is on the mend! There's a new guy in town and he's a real cutie pie! Very sweet too, came and sat at my desk and chatted with me for a while once he got here. Only problem is he's from Chicago and I think he has a girlfriend, darn it. Tiffany, would you like a houseguest for a weekend or two?
Guess I'd better go get dinner ready before my kids start screaming.

Huntress, you are welcome to come to my house anytime. It will save you hotel costs! We are about 2 hours away from Chicago...somewhere in there. Glad that you are feeling better...
Kayla, it is really hard to explain why terrible things happen to good people, and there are so many really rotten people walking around with great health that they abuse...and great families that they neglect, and on and on. You just have to believe that there is a better plan for those people. And for every negative thing that happens in YOUR life, there is something positive that comes out of it. There really is. And sometimes, you REALLY have to search to find it, but eventually....you will realize it. Sometimes, it is something as simple as a personality change. Bad things can make an otherwise fragile person become much, much stronger. Sometimes, these events will shape your future, and cause you to become interested in a career that you wouldn't have otherwise thought of. It can make you an advocate for a cause that you feel passionately about. It can also just make you grateful and thankful for your own life and health, which we often take for granted until we no longer have it.
Yes, it is sad, and tragic for everyone left behind to cope, but you WILL come through this....be positive for them AND for yourself. And we will all say prayers that they are able to beat this!
Ok, I will stop lecturing you. Oh wait...about the weight...11 pounds is awesome. That is 11 pounds less that you are carrying around and don 't you forget that. You will get things together. I know how hard it is for me right now, and I can imagine that being in High School makes it even harder to do this, with all the socializing and things to do away from home, but you can do anything you set your mind to, I know that! You are so strong minded and strong willed and God help anyone or anything that stands in your way.
Ok, now I AM done.
Now, it's about ME ME ME ME. I went to WW last night, and we had a good discussion about eating out. I did learn that when you go to a restaurant and order steak, the weight in the menu is always pre-cooked, and it will lose 2 oz during cooking. So, if it says 6 oz in the menu, you get 4. That comes in handy if you write your calories down, or try to keep track. AND for those of you that are interested in WW or have done it in the past. They advocate 6 glasses of water a day, 5 fruits and veggies and 3 milk products. If you drink a glass of calcium fortified OJ...it counts as 1 water, 2 fruits, and 1 milk product. HOW SWEET IS THAT?
So, I am thinking, I might have a glass in the morning with my Viactiv Calcium Chew, and my dairy would be done for the day. And one Viactiv chew doesn't count as anything in WW, although 2 of them are 1 point.
Moving on. Mike is trying to be sweet, but he sucks at it. I went to Walmart to get my weights....they had them all but the 8's. I called him and asked him to bring me a set of 8's from the other store. He said ok. That was all I wanted.
He comes home with something in a bag, and says, "Who do you love???" and I played like I cared, and said "You" and he whips out this suitcase looking things with the short bars in them and the round disk weights that you can put on the bars and add more, etc....there were eight 2.5 lb disks and four 5 lb disks. He looked all pleased and I was sitting there trying to figure how I could get 8 pounders out of that. Well, I can't. I could put a 5 on one side and a 2.5 on the other for 7.5 pounds, but they would be lop-sided and that won't work. He was so pleased with himself.
I think, they WILL work when I progress past the 10 pounders for my bicep curls, etc...Then I can use them for 15 pounds and up, but right now, I WANT A SET OF 8 POUND WEIGHTS. Is that too damn much to freaking ask??????? So, today, I get to go to MC Sports and buy my own damn weights.
Nice gesture on his part, but it still pissed me off. Man, there is NO pleasing me.
PROBABLY because I gained 5.8 pounds at the WW meeting and my own scale this morning says I gained 6. So, cover your ears for a minute. $%$#)^*%^)@#!*%^)#@!*%$#^
Anyway, I did a step tape last night, and I ate well yesterday, so I'm still feeling strong and this week will be great. The urge to binge has passed.
Stupid scale, I ought to throw it off a cliff. Lucky for me, I live in Illinois. Cliffs are scarce, or I might have to go off the cliff after it. I love that scale. We have this thing. It sees me naked every morning...
Toodles,
Tiff

So last night I found myself lying in bed (actually it was around 2 this morning ) thinking about work. Actually, I was obsessing about the old *itch here. Now "it's" making me lose sleep!?!?! This just won't do. That old loser is soooo not worth it! I keep trying to convince myself of that and tell myself that it's not worth losing sleep over worrying about her paranoia and her temper tantrums but dammit I am!!
Friends keep telling me to blow her off and just forget her but I can't seem to, especially when I get harrassed and snide comments every time I turn around here. I've thought about quitting but then she wins, right? (There have been others that she's driven out of here in the past couple years.) She's not even good at her job and I wish they'd just fire her already but all I can say is that she must have "photos" of someone doing something they shouldn't be doing or she must be "really good at something" if you know what I mean....
OK, I'm done venting at you guys. Sorry. Actually, I feel better. So thanks.
On to more important things...
I got to the gym last night but was later than usual and it was more crowded than I like it. Humph. How dare they? Still I was able to sweat a little. The soreness from last week's work out is almost gone FINALLY. (Boy, I must be really out of shape to be sore for so long after a new workout!) Anyway, I was at least able to do some reps on my favorite machines without whimpering ... much.
Well, winter must be approaching because I've fallen back into my old bad "hibernation" ways. All I want to do in the evenings is sit in front of the TV and eat. It's not pretty. I've just got to find something else to fill my time. I went down to my basement craft "workshop" the other day and everything down there is covered with dust and cobwebs. How embarrassing. I like to think it's because I spent more time outside during the warm months. Time to move the space heater down there and get some creative juices flowing.
So what are you guys going to be doing on the cold winter evenings that are approaching? Anyone have any strategies?
Getting the hair cut tonight. I'm thinking of losing at least 3 or 4 inches. Big change this time. Yes, I am scared. But I need something new. Less hair. Could less weight be far behind?
Later!

Gosh, I'm the first to post this morning! What's up with that? (well, with all the interuptions I've had there may be 20 by now)
I pulled wall paper off until 3 this morning then just had to give it up. I also made an executive decision...I AM NOT PUTTING WALL PAPER BACK IN THAT ROOM. My youngest son came home about mid-night last night (he had to watch the football game with his buddies at college) and helped me until three. He (hopefully) will have the rest of it off by the time I get home today. Then I'm heading out to buy paint. I've decided to do some type of stenciling or something with one wall behind the bed. Even my fingernails hurt, the top layer of the border came off in little tiny pieces, then I had to wet and re-wet the backing and then scrape the glue off with a putty knife. OMG, how do I get myself into these messes?????????? Reminds me of Trading Spaces, one of my favorite shows. Hope it has a good ending.
Dyan, I've always thought that when a person loses a lot of weight it has something to do with the gallblader attacks. Could be one of those old wives tales tho.
Kayla, just hang in there and take one day at a time. And don't sweat the small stuff, and remember 90% of it is SMALL STUFF and the bigger stuff you have to put in higher hands.
Hey to all. Gotta Jet..............Swish

Checking in early today - bonus for me, less to catch up on.
Well, today is the first day of the rest of my life and I'm ready to be on plan again for the indefinite future. Vacation is over, sickness is close enough to over, fall has begun and I am alive.
There was frost on the ground this morning!!
My buddy has WW today so I'm going to get my own copy of that recipe book, I think. It's only $10 I think.

Jello, I've worked with people like the one you have in your office. All I can say is what goes around will come around. My little miss got the ax the other day!!! WooHoo, can't tell you how it made my WEEK. I should feel bad or guilty, but I don't. If anyone had it coming it was her. In the meantime kill her with kindness, she'll always wonder what your motives are.
Tiff, you are so bad.... Poor guy! Okay, I now have a question, are you using two eight pound weights, one in each hand or just one with both hands?

One 8 pound barbell in each hand. Just for my easier exercises.....now for lateral raises, I'll be lucky to do 3's or 5's. I can tell which muscles are strong and which ones are withering away. LOL....
