Meal replacement question

  • Help, hopefully by lunch time......lol

I am wanted to use a meal replacement for lunch and I have tried slimfast and really like them but I am concerned about the amount of sugar in them. Can anyone recommend a good meal replacment shake I can get in Canada.

    Thanks
  • Well...I'm not in Canada but you are SO RIGHT. The SlimFast (I call 'em "SlimFat" ) products are LOADED with sugar - you are right to be concerned!

If you're going to use an MRP (Meal Replacement Powder - I don't recommend the bars as they are all pretty much loaded with sugar - even the so-called 'lo-carb' ones) check the nutritional info and look for something with at least 20 grams of protein and carbs - with little or no sugar grams. I'd recommend going for a protein blend rather than 100% soy or whey, since it's usually higher quality.

OH and also, stay away from the Ready-to-drink (RTD) MRPs as they are sugar bombs as well - besides being WAY expensive.

Here are some brands I can recommend:

EAS' Myoplex Lite (try the Cappuchino Ice - tastes like a Starbucks Frappuchino!)
    Met-Rx Lite
    Labrada Lean Body for Her

Now I know places in the US you can order these from, but I also know that with the rate of exchange, shipping and CUSTOMS you'll end up paying a small fortune.

Just did a search at www.leanandstrong.com and came up with some Canadian web places:

    http://www.sndcanada.com/gc/gc_page.exe

    http://www.supplementscanada.com/

Another option would be to use a high-quality protein powder and add some fruit - like a banana or frozen berries - to the shake (I'd recommend using water rather than milk as milk is mostly lactose - sugar!)

    Hope that helps...
  • Thanks Mrs Jim
Thanks Mrs Jim, I knew I could count on you. I had seen this question or one similar to it before but couldn't find it.

Thanks so much for your information and knowledge.
