thanks guys, for e'thing - i know 11 is good and that's it's on track. my pants feel better so i know it's working. i just had higher hopes for the FS detox when i started in january. i wanted to lose as much as possible too, before leaving for france - i will not be a food monster there, but i won't be doing any serious dieting either!

amen to it sucks to get old. i tell my graduate students to make sure they weigh what they want to for the rest of their life, by age 40. after that, forget it!

i'm liking the 4 day, if some of you aren't content with the FS. go to the bookstore and read a few pages. he makes a list of what one can eat in a day, and after day 4, the second module allows snacks! and snacks are e'thing from 60 goldfish crackers to a morningstar burger on a bun w/ ketchup. the first four days are monotonous, but sometimes you don't feel like eating rice, and he provides alternatives.

i think on the FS, which don't get me wrong, helped me lose 20+ pounds, was a good wake up call - don't eat that, watch out for that, etc. but i'm wondering if we're making too many substitutions? is that possible? agave nectar for example, is really high in calories, like honey, but honey is on a limited amount list - if at all?, like the salad dressing. on the 4 day diet he says: 1 pear, 1 apple, 2 cups cooked rice, 2 cups of salad w/ no croutons, eggs, meat..., 6 oz plain ff yogurt with no fruit on the bottom... he's very specific about what he wants us to eat and i think he's figured out the science behind it. which means when we make substitutions or adjustments, we're not really following his diet plan? just a thought, b/c i'm worried about it. i'm not going to eat the fish, chicken, etc, but have to make substitutions w/meatless 'meat'. i'm hoping the fat/protein ratio is still the same or similar and that i don't screw it up.

anyway, had a hard meeting this morning that lasted 3.5 hours, and on top of that my stomach missed my mid morning snack and was grumbling. :dizzy: i just had lunch (burger and bread!) and will move on to 'dessert' - carrots and cukes, or fruit.

so, i ramble too, looks like! and in a depressed way. :(

i'll talk to you later,
misskitty

shae8230 where are you? misskitty think of it like this, if you weren't doing this plan you wouldn't be 11 pounds lighter you would still be upset about losing those 11 pounds.

:grouphug:

thanks sluggo.

Hi all,

It's been a busy day today. I worked until 2. We got our tax refund today. Boy did we need it. I got my new laptop today...so now I can post more often.

This is day 5 of detox. So far so good. Just had the mishap with the caffeine withdrawls.

I have lots of organizing to do today... I will post personals to everyone later.

shae8230 02-19-2010 08:41 PM

Good Evening,

I am tired and ready for bed. It's been a long day.

misskitty~ 11 lbs is great! I am hoping for 5 or 6.

sluggo~ yes, IRS checks are great. We did direct deposit and got it pretty quick.

natamars~ I am having the same problem losing weight now that I am in my 40's. It just doesn't come off as fast. Stupid metabolism...

Equinata~ You are doing so good. And you have kept the weight off. Way to go.

Hi to eveyone else. Hope you all have a good night. I am going shopping tomorrow. I have to get homeschool supplies and shoes for Joshua. I need a few things and so does dh. So, we will be in town for a while tomorrow. I will catch up when I get home tomorrow evening.

Hello Everyone! I'm also doing the FS and am on day 5 of detox. I'm so grateful for the recipes and advice that I have read from your posts.

Is it too late to join in?

shae8230 02-20-2010 07:17 AM

Good Morning!

It's a beautiful day here in Maine. The air is so clean and crisp. For someone who is from Texas... the difference in air quality is like night and day.

PrettyPearls~ :welcome3: How are you doing on detox? Today is day 6 for me. I had issues with caffeine withdrawls...but other than that, I am doing pretty good. Glad to have you with us.

We are getting ready for our big shopping day.

Talk to you later,
Sherry

natamars 02-20-2010 08:19 AM

Welcome, prettypearls! I'm on day 7 of detox. So far, so good, although I'm not sure if I'm losing or not. DH has hidden the scale until Tuesday morning. Have you weighed in yet?

shae, how goes the caffeine withdrawal? I think it's impossible to go cold turkey if you've been having it every day. I remember trying it once back when I used to drink coffee every day and I had a 4-day pounding headache.

Going shoping today for some more good stuff - definitely need to make some soups. My throat is still sore, unfortunately, but I've GOT to get some cardio in.

Have a great day, everyone!

Thanks everyone for letting me in!!! Let me give you an update on where I am.

Today is day 6 of the detox and I think I'm doing pretty good food and exercise wise. I just walked 5 miles this morning and I'm about to try making some of those pancakes I've been reading about. I don't know how much weight I've lost because I have not gotten on the scale. I have another friend who also started the detox and we promised not to get on the scale until Wednesday. :(

I have been getting in my exercise. Some days I actually get on my treadmill twice. I started exercising before I started the FS diet because I saw pictures of how I really look and knew that person was not me.

After lunch I'm going to try to get in a little more exercise because I don't like to exercise on Sundays.

You are all doing so wonderful and I feel so lucky to be a part of this group. Will we be continuing this forum for phase II or will it be renamed? I don't want to get lost. LOL

Great Job Maltida!!! thats 6 pounds you don't ever have to see again!

sluggo44 02-20-2010 12:34 PM

Good morning peeps, welcome pretty pearls. shae8230 you will so relate to this: up to 62 today here in texas but snow in the forcast for next tuesday and wednesday, only in texas do we have the craziest weather. Everyone sounds like they are doing soooooooo good and that makes me more determined to get this right and so today will be the 1st day of detox for the 3rd time and dear gawd let this be the 3rd time charm.:dizzy: When I read your threads I just sit here and beat myself up thinking that would be me if I had stuck with it from the beginning UGG! Going to see shutter island with hubby but will be bringing air popped popcorn and grapes (yes I'm one of those that sneek stuff into the movies:devil:) I know weird day to start fs a saturday but monday hasn't been working out so much so why not start on a weekend. Hope everyone has a great weekend and successful FS two days:hug:

natamars 02-20-2010 01:19 PM

matilda, six lbs. is incredible! wtg!

prettypearls, great job on the exercise. How long does it take you to do 5 miles?

Ok, I have to admit I cheated - I found the scale(not too tough - DH hid it in his closet). Today is Day 7, but I weighed in after I ate breakfast and drank tea, and I am down 4 lbs!! Now even though my starting weight was 1-2 lbs. high because of water, I am thrilled. I want to keep going with this and see what happens, but I feel good about the types of food I am eating, and am feeling satisfied on 1000-1300 calories/day since it's all good food.

Still trying to figure out how to deal with the Chinese buffet tonight, but this place supposedly has steamed veggies. Maybe some soup also.

shae8230 02-20-2010 05:56 PM

Hi everyone,

I hope y'all have had a great day. I have had a good one. I bought a rice cooker/steamer today. Can't wait to use it. I am going to make some brown rice and steam some veggies at the same time. lol. I love technology. ;)

natamars~ I have cut down to 1 caffeine drink a day. So, I am weaning myself. I started a new medication a couple of weeks ago and with the changes in my diet and quitting caffeine all at the same time...it was just too much at once. 4 lbs is awesome! Keep it up! Stay strong at the chinese buffet!

sluggo44~ Gotta love that Texas weather! DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP!! Just think that the first 2 times of detox were practice for the real thing.;) Now you know where you made your mistakes in the past...so you will avoid them this time.

PrettyPearls~ I am on day 6 today, too. We will have the same name for the thread. Some of the ladies here are on different phases. Also, there are some who are on the extreme fat smash diet and there are some who are on the 4 day diet. Basically, we are all following a diet by Dr. Ian Smith. lol.

misskitty~ hope your headache went away.

Matilda08~ 6 lbs!! :bravo: You are doing so good!

I am making stuffed peppers for dinner. I am using soy ground beef substitute. I am going to have a salad with it. Not too good on water intake today. Will do better tomorrow.

Later,
Sherry
