Yes
I am currently taking duromine (phentermine) to help me combat weight loss. If you want to read some more about it, I have actually posted a thread under depression and weight issues under the title "diet medication". It is in this section because although it is very effective, the one side affect I can't find anywhere on the internet or in a book is that I find it very hard to smile or laugh when I take it. I often think that when something is funny, the normal me would not have to make laughing an effort. It gives you heaps of energy but in the afternoon you feel yuck. You must make sure you eat or side effects will double. I don't know if you had any past experience with drugs but it is the pharmacutical version of "speed". I would liken taking it to having an energy drink ( like red bull), you feel great for a couple of hours, but when it wears off it leaves you in slump. This does not occur if you make sure you eat healthy sensible meals, but you have to make yourself eat. I always wondered what that feeling is like and it can be scarier than overeating. At least I do this under a doctors direction and not stoop to illegal drugs, health shop drugs, asthma puffas, sudafed and other assortments that some people do to stay thin or lose weight.
