Hi Karen,

Welcome to our little corner of this site!! Hope you stick around and feel free to let it go and be yourself. We are all a little nutty around here, but it helps us get the job done!

Kayla, how did the WW go?

GeTtInG_ThErE2 07-12-2002 02:58 AM

Hello!

Well weight watchers is great! i absolutely love it....it all seems too easy to be true....but one question....where it says activity points earned or minuts....what does that mean? and how do you find out your points?? anyone know?

I am also going to do a big of the slimfast stuff.....it only counts for a few points......

Today was my first day of weight watchers and considering i had no clue until around 4:oo pm what any of the point values were or anything....i was over by three points....but that was just cause i didnt know...so tommorrow is my OFFICIAL first day......

anyways...in the process of highlighting my hair right now! im getting a little worried though! hehehe!
well better go wash it out!
see you all later!
luv
Kayla

GeTtInG_ThErE2 07-12-2002 02:59 AM

HOLY! a few spelling errors!!!! where it says "a big of the slimfast stuff.....it should say a BIT! and where it says 4:oo it should say 4:00!!! im a little tired i guess! lol
gnight ladies!

huntress 07-12-2002 06:12 AM

Good morning everyone! I am glad to see you all again, I really look forward to reading what everyone has to say and how things are going.

Tiffany - I'm sure your bathroom is beautiful and I am just jealous:s: I know what you mean about paint, when I had a bedroom added on to my house I picked out a beautiful soft white color for the walls to contrast bright white crown mouldings, but when I started to paint it was lavender! What's up with that anyway? I absolutely HATE yard work.........after a whole day of it I would imagine that you got plenty of exercise.

Welcome Karen! I too love that exhilaration of seeing the scale move down quickly, it really has a way of getting you off to a good start. Weight Watchers is a good program and if you stick with it you should be able to lose it all........oh, and don't worry about that extra hot dog, we all fall off the wagon occasionally and one hot dog isn't going to make that much difference.

Kayla - If I remember correctly from my WW days, the extra points you can earn from extra exercise come in a week or so down the road and they will tell you about it but I think you have to exercise for an extra 20 minutes for each point.

TGIF!:spin: If they had a jumping up and down for joy smilie I would use that too. I finally got everything caught up after being off last week at work and now I've got to scrub my house from top to bottom Saturday since I really haven't felt much like doing it this week and my kids are home all day making messes and leaving them. I'd better go get ready for work, I have to look extra special nice today, that cute guy will be there this morning.... P.S. Tiffany, we will understand if we don't hear from you this weekend ;)

Well, so much for the "make up" romance. My body was too stiff last night to move and I fell asleep. :(

Oh well.

Kayla, Huntress is right, they want you to focus on your food first, and then later down the road they introduce the exercise points. Actually, I think it is closer to week 3 or 4. Don't want to overwhelm you all at once. LOL....

Well...I am leaving Sunday morning for Branson and I should be back by Wednesday evening.

My fiance is making fun of me. I have a dog...a small Pomeranian, who is my sunshine. This dog is my baby. Yes, I AM one of THOSE people. I never had a dog before, my parents always had cats, so this was my first dog and I am charmed beyond words. He is just my baby.

Anyway, we have to board him at the vet when we leave and since they are closed on Sunday, he has to go Saturday before noon. So, I have a bag packed for him, with his fuzzy bone, his blankie and a small pillow. (He likes to lay on his blanket with his head resting on the pillow) and his special food. (Iams mini chunks) cause he has such little teeth.

My fiance laughed at me, and said the dog wasn't going away to summer camp. He was going to the kennel. But I can imagine that would be like prison to him. So, I am sending his bag anyway, and making my boyfriend drop him off at the vet tomorrow, cause I can't bear to see his little face when we leave him there. I'm sure he will think we have abandoned him forever.

Well, I'll attach a picture of him, and I will chat with you all later!

TGIF!!!

And I mean that sincerely! This week has been entirely too stressful. I NEED a weekend. Sitting around doing NOTHING sounds good to me. Alas, (did she really just say "alas"??) it probably won't happen. Still anything would be better than being at work, eh? And since Huntress has just volunteered to come and scrub my house from top to bottom....

Huh, she didn't volunteer to do MY house?!?! Oops. Sorry. Misunderstood. :^: Well, it's not that my house needs cleaning or anything.... Yeah. Right.

Huntress, I know what you mean about the paint. We just did the kitchen and I wanted a nice "off-white". Well, you just don't go into a paint store and get off-white paint. Do you know how many shades of white there are!?!?! :o I ended up with "Goose Feather". We put it on the walls. It's ... uh ... off-white.

Karen, welcome to the club. You'll like it here! :)

Kayla, I think Huntress is right. On the 3rd or 4th week, you get a little exercise point counter card and it helps calculate how many points you earn from the exercise. It's been a while so I don't remember exactly. I think the general rule is 20 minutes of exercise equals 1 point. Something like that.

Speaking of exercise, I kicked serious butt at the gym last night. :smug: I don't know what came over me but I hope it happens again and again!!! Worked up quite a sweat. I was going to stop at the mall on the way home but had to go home and, uh, freshen up :o first. Couldn't subject the general public to me after that!

And speaking of working up a sweat, have a good time Miss Tiffany. ;) ;) Anyone have any idea how many calories are burned during make-up sex?? Hm, now there's an exercise video I bet you've never seen advertised on TV!

One last note. Had a bottle of Snapple (Diet Peach Tea, my favorite!) yesterday. They all have little trivia facts under the lid. This one says: "When the moon is directly overhead, you weigh slightly less."

Now that's an interesting concept.....

And with that, I'll be going. Hope you all have a great day and a wonderful weekend! :)

Tiffany123 07-12-2002 08:57 AM

Um..ok. The only pic I have is too big, so never mind for now.

LOL

Tigerlily 07-12-2002 09:06 AM

Hey Tiff, where's the pic?? My boys got their first pup this past Christmas. Her name is Belle and she's a Jack Russell. I never thought I was a little dog person, but didn't want a big dog in the house....so, got Belle. I am in puppy love with her, can't imagine not having her. And, can't imagine having to board her. I feel for you. Maybe since you aren't the one dropping him off, he wont be mad at you. I also live with a cat and an iguana...last year we had a rooster! I was embarrassed about the rooster, but he was cute. Cant say for sure what happened to him...boys think their dad gave him away.
Off to pick blueberry's!

Tigerlily 07-12-2002 09:07 AM

opps, must have been posting at the same time.
my pics are all too big too. i asked dh how to make them smaller, but he didnt speak slowly enough for me. lol

Tigerlily 07-12-2002 09:09 AM

What's up with all the off-white paint? Let's get some color in there girls!

Tiffany123 07-12-2002 10:53 AM

aHA!!!!!

Cafe976 07-12-2002 11:06 AM

Hello, everyone and welcome, Karen.

I don't have time for shout-outs today but I do just love catching up with all of you! What an awesome bunch of women you are - each of you has brightened my day.

I've been having a major PMS week, on top of being my first week back to work and a week I had decided to escalate my weight loss plan to a new level....

It hasn't gone the way I planned and I'm frustrated with myself because, darn it, I can do things when I set my mind to it and I don't like having limiting factors working against me by messing with my emotions. I'm NOT going to get worked up about this but will start over fresh after the floodgates finally open.

I'm not sure I'm a good judge right now - I guess I was focusing on the negative this morning (surprise surprise) but now that I look at the week more objectively I think now it has been neither horrible nor good - just somewhere in between. I mean, I was thinking it was a -7 but it's probably only been a -2 or maybe even a 0 - as far as my WL goals are concerned.

I was supposed to go to the gym today but the alarm was not set properly and I can't say I was even sad about it. :o

So in spite of my bad attitude, you guys have perked me up and I'm going to try to stop my raging self and not go and really blow it further just because I'm discouraged by my - - - - hormonal limitations. So that's the best I can bring to today and tomorrow will be another day. I feel better already, dammit!

Tigerlily 07-12-2002 12:41 PM

aaawww, what a cute doggie. i've got to figure out how to post photo's. i'm a camera freak.
blueberry picking went as well as could be expected with a 5 year old and a 10 year old...both boys. ya can't really be injured by a thrown blueberry. the 5yr old says the ones he picked are all his, nobody else can eat any....all five pounds worth. i'm thinking tummy ache. the berries are good sized. i was afraid they would be small with the lack of rain here.
can ya all guess what i'm having for breakfast tomorrow?!
going to feed the rugrats lunch, then off to the grocery. i think i'll take the asprin BEFORE we leave. shopping with kids is such a joy. :dizzy:
have a good weekend!

Jello 07-12-2002 01:56 PM

Why Tiffany, how thoughtful! Tigerlily asks for some color in our off-white thread and you come through with that little cutie!

And then, Tigerlily, you come back with, well, blue kids, apparently.

That's why I like this group.

Cafe, I love the way you ended your post. "I feel better already, dammit". Yeah, you tell 'em. You'll feel better and you'll like it, missy!

Girls, it's Friday afternoon. And it's a beautiful day outside my ... filthy dirty window. (What do these cleaning people get paid for anyway??) Still, the sun is shining, the trees are swaying in the breeze and the weekend promises to be more of the same. Can't hardly wait!

Now I could sit here and dwell on the fact that the gal back in shipping just told me that my boss told her he'd have something that would have to go out Fed-X tonight and yet I haven't seen hide nor hair of it. Be just like him to give me some 20 page report to compile and type up at 4:45. Um, boss? Can you say "overtime"?

No, I'm not going to think about that. I'm going to think about the 11,000 or so seconds to go until 5:00. Nor am I going to think about the fact that weekends for me usually mean uncontrolled eating and not getting enough water. Hm, do I hear the gym calling my name?? :^:

Again, I'm going to sign off and wish you all a great weekend! :D

GeTtInG_ThErE2 07-12-2002 03:03 PM

hi guys, sorry i havent posted, i did something really stupid for the last 2 days and this morning, i thought i could make somersizing work for me AGAIN!!!!! i was feeling pretty confident too, then by lunch time with my mom, i went off the program, i am so tired of failing. i need to eat healthy, from ALL food groups, and whether i like it or not i am gonna have to keep track of how much i am eating.

i love everyone on here and the chuckles i get when i read your posts. and the support is GREAT. but i think i will go back to the richard simmons board so i can take back control and keep track of what i am eating and how much. i know this will get boring for me, but i have to stop whining about it, this is gonna take some work and i just have to do it. i cant keep looking for the easy way out. hang in there and stay as sweet as you are, be there for each other. and i wish everyone continued success, i will pop in now and then and tell ya how i am doing, who knows, i may be back sooner then you know. thanks for all the support.

Tigerlily 07-12-2002 04:49 PM

Hi all!
Grocery Shopping is Darn HARD! Kids aside, it's hard making the right choices. Kids added to it. ARGH! Do ya remember the calgon take me away comercials?! I need that.
I'm going to make stuffed peppers tonight and try using brown rice for the first time. I just stare at all the dried beans/rice stuff at the store, clueless. With all the diet books, plans, cookbooks...none of them tell ya how to CONVERT. Let alone how to convert the DH and kids. I need a "gradual plan". Make'n it up as I go, running blind.
Jello, I meant paint....wall paint. My family always makes fun of my mom cause their whole house is beige. Scared of color. I love color. People get dizzy in my house. Probably all those years of living in the beige.
Tomorrow is my nieces bday. Cake and icecream is a given. I'm gonna take blueberries and watermelon to offset the evils.
Have a great weekend, I may not be back until Monday...weigh in day for me.

Tiffany123 07-12-2002 06:04 PM

Will, I will miss you, but only you knows what will work for you! I wish you all the best, and I will look forward to hearing about your continued success!!!!

Tig, today is my daughter's birthday, and she wanted peach cobbler, (we are all caked out) and so I made a peach cobbler and then I picked up a low-fat pound cake and some strawberries and fat free coolwhip. So, everyone was eating and I don't think anyone cared who was eating what!

By the way, the brown rice is DELICIOUS! I love it and use it now instead of white. Well, the whole wheat rice anyway. I think Minute Rice makes it...

Well, we are heading out to dinner and I am fine as long as my daughter doesn't pick out Chinese Buffet. :dizzy:

So, maybe a steak house, and I can get some chicken and a salad or something. Yum. I am ready to eat out!!!!

Talk with ya later, I'm watching What Lies Beneath, and everytime I see it, I jump and scream like the first time. What an awesome movie.

:)

Tigerlily 07-12-2002 06:31 PM

I bought long grain brown rice. Takes a long time to cook. :?:
So, looks like stuffed peppers get moved to Sunday. Tonight is a Nacho, nacho night. I call my DH Nacho man because he likes them so much. I bought the baked tortilla chips for myself and if I go light on the cheese and sourcream, shouldn't be so bad. I use the natural sourcream. I can "read" the ingredient list on the natural type. Wish I REALLY KNEW what was better...fat free or natural?!
DH not home from work yet. I feel like a littel kid wait'n for him to get home. I'm like "talk to me, your my adult" and he's like "could you please give me some peace and quiet, it's loud at work all day". Good thing I get to rattle at you guys!;)

Tiffany123 07-12-2002 10:51 PM

We went to the Chinese Buffet. :ink:

To quote Forrest Gump: "And that's all I have to say about that."

AND further more, to quote Scarlett O'Hara: "Tomorrow is another day."

Going to put my big butt to bed now.

Happy Saturday to all

Good morning..........I hope that everyone has a nice weekend.

I have decided after the chat that Tiffany and I had earlier this week not to weigh in this week. I feel that I am putting way too much emphasis on what the iron monster says every week. Instead I choose to put it away for a while and simply concentrate on how I feel, how I look and how my clothes fit. As long as I know that I am drinking plenty of water, getting my exercise and eating healthy the weight loss will follow. I am more than some number on a scale, darn it all. To track my progress in the overall I will weigh in once a month and take measurements.

:jig: I feel happy and joyous this morning! It's Saturday, it's early the kids are all still sleeping and I have a few hours to myself to enjoy. Have a good time on your trip Tiffany and be ready to tell us all about it when you get back.

LJ

Tiffany123 07-13-2002 03:30 PM

Ok...the time has come. We must move forward and multiply. Well, start a new thread anyway...I think we have just about maxxed out this one.

Ok...it will be called, CURIOUS #2, DOING OUR OWN THING!

So...DON'T POST HERE NO MORE. GOT IT? I wanna come home from my trip and find our new thread alive and kicking.

Jo, you had better be funny and make me laugh. An 8 hour car ride with the kids will have me desperately seeking humor.

Ok...and with that...we are through here.

Starting a new one right now......

C'mon, let's go!
