Just a quick note to let everyone know.. I got a new scale! LOL

It's a 'Taylor' scale. Its one of those purty ones.. the chrome and glass where you can see the floor beneath it. It reads to the half pound. It was a little more than I planned to spend but its my mother's day gift so its allll good ;) Its currently reading about 4 pounds up from my old scale. I'm not sure if thats because I had a really bad week, the two scales read differently or I didn't weigh in the morning. We'll see what it reads tomorrow morning and I'll change my 'current' weight to reflect that. Its nice to be able to check up on myself once again tho. Maybe the new scale will provide me with some motivation? Ha!

:-)

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Howdy everyone!!!!

Ok.....are you ready for this.........here it goes.....I have lost 4.5 pounds at weigh in this morning....TaDa!!!!!!!!!!!!... I am so happy as the darn scale was stuck for over a month now. I am doing a little happy dance:jig:
I just hope that Ill can keep it up and not slide backward..

Holly~~~ I was keeping my fingers crossed for you that you would have lost some too! Maybe you will have a big whopper of a weight loss at next weigh in. Hang in there. Did you take your bike out for a ride today?

Christine~~~ Nice new scale eh??? I have seen that type . Those are nice. Do you have to ever replace batteries?

Latisia~~~ You sure are on a roll. You are losing every week. That is awesome. Congrats to you!

Tryinhard~~~ Welcome back from DC.Hope your tooth is feeling better.

Nola~~~ Sorry to hear that your Dad needs surgery. I hope that everything goes just fine. It sure is hard being so far away from family when things like this happen. I felt so bad being away from my sister when she was going through her cancer treatments this past year. I sure hope you can get the Asthma in check also. Take care ok?

Jacklyn~~~ 82 miles.. that is great. You are determined for sure!!!
I have been slipping a bit on my walking. I have been having those stupid dizzy lightheaded things happening again and when that happens I dont feel like doing anything. I need to just say the heck with it and if it happens when I am walking , oh well....

A big hello to the rest of the gang I hope all is well and you have a great day also!!!

Ill see ya later girls!!!

Nancy, congrats on the loss! Its gotta feel great to break into the 180s!! :D

The scale is a lithium scale. It says you should never have to replace the battery with normal use.. but if you use it excessively eventually the battery could need replacement (but how much could a battery cost?).. knowing me, i'll wear the thing out in a year

Happy Mother's Day everyone!!

Nancy-Congrats on your weight loss! That is awesome!! That gives me inspiration to stick with it, cause you just never know when its gonna drop right off! That's one of the reasons I have started the weekly weigh in rather than daily. Its too depressing when you feel like you are doing so well and then you step on the scale and nothing has changed...or in my case you gain!!

Christine-I hope your new scale is kind to you! I bet having your mother there will help you. Its always nice to have someone there that can help keep you on track!

t-girl-Congrats on your weight loss! You must be so proud! I bet you cant wait to see how your husband reacts!

To everyone one else I hope you are doing good and hanging in there!

We are going out to eat tonight and I have officially declared Sunday nights my cheat night. We always go out Sunday night for dinner and a movie and since we have decided to seriously get out of debt, Sunday is the only night we usually go out each week, unless there is a get together or something. So I am going to eat what I am craving but am NOT going to go overboard. Talk to everyone later!

Hi every one. Happy Mother's Day to all Mom's! I hope today is going well. I convinced my kids not to make me the usual Mother's Day breakfast in bed. They weren't to thrilled. They like to make me lots of stuff. I just wanted oatmeal and fruit. I got oatmeal and a muffin lol. Better than the usual, 2 eggs, homefries and toast with butter and jelly.
I'm so happy that your scale finally moved Nancy! That is so great. I feel your joy.
Latisia, good job on another sucessful week. Keep it up.
To everyone else, keep up the good work and hang in there.
I'm not weighing in today. I celebrated lots of things this week lol. Wed, Fri, Sat and Sun so I think I'll hold off until next week. :)
By the way, I was able to make it to the gym in the am on Sun, Mon and Wed. I would have gone more, but I was so sore. Plus I wanted to wait until I got headphones to wear. When you go so early, there are lots of senior citizens there. They make lots of noises that scare the crap out of me while they are working out. I thought the lady next to me was going to die for sure the way she was moaning. You can't imagine how scared I was that she was going to just drop. She wasn't even walking fast. Maybe 1.9 miles an hr but she was moaning like a ghost
SCARY!!!!!!!!!

Melisa

Happy Mother's Day everyone!
One good thing about company--my dh has come walking with me in the morning because there's someone here to stay with dd! It's been nice to have his company!
Everyone is doing so well! I am so proud of everyone staying on program! And, if you notice, we're all staying op even when we go out! A few weeks ago I remember reading about the struggles of going out and look, another obstacle overcome! You guys are my inspiration!
Today was a tough day. We decided to do brunch, which if you ask me, never should have been invented! Whose idea was it to combine two meals in one!?! I made good choices, but now it's 4 pm and I'm starving! Time to get some fruit and tea!
Well, I hope everyone had a great weekend. My tooth is better, but I think I am going to have to go see the dentist--ugh!
Be good!

Good Afternoon everyone!

Nancy - WOW! Congrats to you for being down 4.5!! You must still be doing Happy Dance!:jig: That is so wonderful. No more plateau for you!Woo hoo!

Jacklyn - hope you hve a nice dinner out! You can satisfy your cravings and then look forward to next week, while having an OP week in-between. Your steady walking is doing so much good for you.

Christine - your new scale sounds snazzy!

Melisa - your gym anecdote made me laugh but also sounds uncomfortable to have the senior citizens moaning and groaning amongst you! So you're able to go before work? that is great!

Hi tryin'hard -that's so nice that your husband can walk with you also, at least while you have company. Bummer about your tooth, though - do you have a choice of dentists? Some are just better with patients that others. I'm so glad I have a dentist that I totally trust; he looks at my fingers to see if they're gripping, and will ask how I'm doing.

Hello also to t-girl, Kanola, Pamela, Sprite, darmah and Hockeychic! Hope you're all having a nice Mother's Day (if applicable) and a good day otherwise!

Well, I'm back to work tomorrow - it's been so nice to have off for a month and a half; and I will have to WORK at fitting the exercise/walking in...I am NOT going to backslide and let those ugly 10 pounds drift back!!!!!

I was hoping to surprise everyone at work by showing up the first day on the motorcycle...but that won't be happening for a while, not until at least I learn to turn :o which is kinda important, isn't it:lol: and braking is good too :^: love these smilies!

Have a great evening everyone!!

Happy Moms Day everybody,,,

Melisa~~~ I was laughing so hard at your description of the older woman at your gym. Sounds like something off Saturday night live!!

tryinhard~~~ Good for you that your got your walk in. I havent walked today. Hopefully I will tonight after we get back from dinner at a friends house. At least that is my plan. Unless I talk myself out of it.

Holly~~~So its back to work for you tomorrow. Well you know you will do just fine. You have will power to resist those pastries that you will be making. Your next weigh in will be a good one you will see!!

Jacklyn~~~ Enjoy your self at dinner tonight. I think that Is a good idea to have a day to eat what you want. I am going to start doing that also. It keeps you from burning yourself out and going on a total binge!!!

Christine~~~ Did you try out the new scale first thing this morning? I hope it was kind to you!!!

Well , we are off to dinner now. I hope everyone had a great day and that the MIA ladies will post soon.

See ya later...

Evening all . . .

The new scale was not as nice to me as I had wished, but then, it could have been worse. I am reading up 4.5 pounds. Because I don't feel like I have really gained that much, I'm assuming its partially due to a couple pound gain and partially due to the scales reading differently. Either way, 154.5 is not a pleasant number so I must be moving my lazy butt back onto the track!

Hope everyone had an enjoyable Mother's Day weekend. Mine was nice, although too filled with good foods (my MIL even sent us home with a box of chocolates she didnt want.. sheesh!).

I did find a big bag of my yarn in her basement though (we're storing stuff there whilst we continue to live in tiny apartments). I figured maybe I can do some crochet or something to keep my hands busy while I'm watching tv in the evenings.. less likely to snack that way I figure.... anything is worth a try .. and hey, i may wind up making something nice too ;)

Anyways, I'm off for the evening.. g'nite :)

Hey, I just noticed I'm now a 'senior member'.. must be this thread has me posting lots! I think I had a total of like 7 posts before I joined in here ;)

Good morning everyone! Hope everyone had a great Mother's Day!

I had my cheat night last night and this morning I woke up ready to go! I think I am going to try to make weekly goals to kinda break things up for me. At my next weigh in I would like to drop 1-2 pounds (by Sat). I have been slowly gaining this past month and I am going to focus my efforts on turning it around! I want to get my water in this week, walk, and keep my calories within my limit EVERYDAY. I figure I can at least do that for 6 days and see what happens. Tonight is my off night for walking so I will be cleaning the house instead. My parents are coming down for the weekend so I have to get the house prepared.

Well, I need to get to work. Lots of catching up to do today. Everyone have a great one!

Jacklyn--good for you for recognizing that you have to do what works for you! Your "cheat" night last night will help keep you on track for the week and your mini goal is certainly attainable! You've got a terrific attitude and, as we all know, that's the best defense! Know that we're all rooting for you!

Have you all read this month's Consumer Reports? There is a great article on the successful dieting programs and the one that works the best is when the dieter does it all by her/himself and exercises for at least thirty minutes at least three times a week. Sound familiar??? We are all doing it the most successful way! Congrats to us!

Hope you're all having a good day. It's a soggy Monday around here. Can't wait to go home and curl up on the couch!

t-girl 05-13-2002 01:33 PM

Good morning all :)

Somewhat good news.. scale is already reading down 1 pound (153.5) this morning! Now if I can keep control, I'll have the next 3.5 off shortly enough or so I hope! :D

Hope everyone else is doing well.
