Anyone on "First Place" ?

Hi Everyone, seen an old post from Oct 2001 of someone on the first place program. I just started in Jan. 2002.
Looking for someone to share information about this program with. I'll be starting our second bible study this comming week. Hope someone responds.:^:

Hey There... I am not on First Place although I have been looking at it. We have no christian based groups in my area so I am having to buy the whole facilitator kit....

I was looking at both First Place and Fit 4 kits and ended up starting with Fit 4... Fit 4 is set up as (2) 12 week courses- one on fitness and 1 on nutrition. Since I am going it alone I am doing both at the same time. I am on week 2 now.

I am hoping to try first place after this is done. Can you tell me anything about it. How is the program set up... are you getting anything out of it....

I am very interested. I would hate to spend the over $100 and not be motivated.

Thank you.

First Place

Hi Angel

I don't know anything about Fit 4, is it a christian program ?

First Place is a christian program that teaches you about living healthy, physically and spiritually.

It teaches a lifestyle change in eating healthy, exercising and putting Christ First in your life.

It has a 10 week bible study, which is done everyday. It takes only about 10min a day. There are about 8 different studies to choose from.

It teaches eating a balanced diet based on exchanges. Number of servings per food group depend on age, calorie level, and what goal weight is. Your not really limited to certain foods, just portions, and servings per day per group.

Of course it teaches exercise at least 3x weekly, but no certain program, can be what ever type you like. As long as you exercise.

It teaches you to depend on God to give you the strength to overcome your temptations, and He will, but we have to do our part as well.

We have a support group amongst ourselves and are encouraged to contact at least one member per week.

We are lucky to have a Nutrionalist as one of our leader. She provides lots of valuable info.

There's lots more, I've lost 22lbs on it and it works for me. If you have any other questions I'll be glad to answer. You can also go to the web site at Firstplace.com.

Good Luck and be strong :strong:

I went to Firstplace.com, and found that it wasn't what you described, so I tried http://www.firstplace.org and got right in.
I was hoping there was a group in my area but there isn't yet, and I don';t have the time right now to get one going. I will try again, though, so thank you for the info.

Sorry Jana for the wrong web address, also that there's not a group close to you.

So what do you plan on doing now ?

Thank You for the Information.... I will probably start this one as soon as I get finished with Fit 4....I figure all the spiritual and motivational help that I can get the better.

Fit 4 is also a Christian based program.... it has 4 basic components.... the 2 main ones are fitness and nutrition. Each one is 12 weeks long... also supposed to be group based.. I just dont have a group around me so I am doing it alone. They are based on the bible verse Mark 12:30-31... that it is heart, mind, soul, and strength....

I like it so far... although I am trying to be good with the daily study.... I have a tendency to do one whole weeks worth of work in a day then go 7 days again without looking at it... I need the daily dedication....

they have a website... www.fit4.com if you are interested...

Hi Andrea

First place has lots of scriptures that we memorize as well as included in daily bible study. Daily is important. It's just as important to feed out soul as our bodies, probably more. Besides when you talk to God daily our relationship becomes closer to Him. Therefore we are grounded even deeper in spirituality. Turning our thoughts and desires over to Him takes it away from food and other unhealthy things.

You can go to the web site and sign up for a monthly newsletter. It has recipes and other articles. Don't think I gave you the right address, www.firstplace.org

talk to you later
