Hi!
Ledom, I am wish I could give you our snow. My car is still at the bottom of the hill but it looks like it will melt today.
I did two miles on the treadmill this morning. I kind of was even looking forward to treadmilling:dizzy: I hope you aren't without power Alice, since I have moved to this island being without power is a frequent and nasty occurence. I always try to have a loaf of french bread baked so I can at least have p.b and bread for breakfast. I had better go and make my guest "Nachos" I am going to have a salad myself...though I might just taste one or two chips:s: but no more:smug: |
Hi ledom, judi, & shebacat,
The freezing rain wasn't too bad. Luckily our power stayed on. Last night it got very..very windy Sometimes it sounded as though a freight train was coming through:eek: Today it is extremely cold and it seems like we are starting to pay for our warm Jan.
Went back to the grocery store to buy some more celery root to make some "mashed potatoes". I did do my walk aerobic tape this morning. judi, I'm glad that you are starting to look forward to the treadmill. I really think walking is the best exercise. It seems that is the only exercise I can stick to. ledom, I really wish I was in control. These 2 lb. did not bother me because of how fast the lbs. came off and I know that was only temporary. I am trying to convince myself to avoid the scale as much as possible, just to eat healthy and exercise and let my clothes and how I feel to be the judge of how I'm doing. Maybe if I keep repeating it to myself it will happen:^: Hi Shebacat! How are you? Did you take home that kitty? Enjoy your weekend girls! |
Hi everyone!
Hi ladies,
I'm going to have to start posting everyday instead of on Saturdays because ya'll are so motivational. I haven't done either...watching the food or exercise, but my goal is to start again on Monday. As far as the scale goes..I've been watching the Discovery Health program with the 7 people competing for a spa vacation in British Columbia. One of my favorites is the lawyer. She's gone from a size 14 to a size 8 in 3 months. I believe the last episode she said her new motto is "screw the scale!" Judi and Alice, as long as you feel good and are exercising, that's all that counts. You two are doing great! By this summer, I can just see Ledom being all buffed and in shape. I need to get on track with the three of you. I think I've decided that I'm not ready for another cat right now. Maybe in a few years or so. At work I design international circuits, and they told my manager that we needed to get our passports ready in case... I would love to travel for a while...see the world, experience different lifestyles, etc. Ledom, I had to laugh at your "eclectic" comment. Pretty much summarizes my tastes too. Judi and Alice, try to stay warm! Talk to ya'll later. |
Hello everyone!
It was very cold here this morning, -4 deg. I will be watching the Super Bowl later on. I'm not a sports fan, but since the N.E. Patriots will be playing I thought I would watch it.
shebacat, it was nice hearing from you and thank you for the encouragement. I liked what that woman said, "Screw the scale!":) ledom & judi I hope you are enjoying your weekend. Take care. |
Hey girls,
Shebacat, I hope you can start checking in during the week. Goodluck with your committment to good habits next week. The first day is the hardest, it DOES get easier for the most part once you get going.
Alice, the weird thing is that a good LOSS on the scale can also set me up for messing up on my diet. I have slowly learned that on some days I can deal with whatever the scale says and other days I can't. I have to steel myself psychologically before stepping on. I think paying attention to how you look, feel, and how your clothes fit is a really good way to keep track. On the other hand, once I ever get to where I want to be, I think it is a good idea to keep tabs by weighing once a week or so. My humble opinion only. This weekend has been weird. Yesterday spent with D running errands and playing catch-up for being gone last weekend. My freezer has stopped working and I still haven't dealt with it. Sometimes it stops because I didn't close the door all the way so I am still jiggling the door around. I think I am going to have to face the inevitable this afternoon though and do something. Sigh, I hate when things break. I am still trying to get some quality time down in the darkroom, but am having trouble concentrating. I'll try for at least a couple of hours today. Yesterday afternoon I splurged on some fast food take-out. I don't feel too bad about it, my only screw-up this week and I was feeling sorry for myself. I have worked out 7 days straight so Monday morning will be a rest day and a great way to start the week and made my screw-up seem less bad. Hope things are going more smoothly for you guys and I'm sure to get myself back on level ground before the day is over. |
Hey Hi All!
Wow! It was great to read everyone's posts.
I did 2 miles on the treadmill. I ordered new sports tapes from Sportsmusic.com. They are motivational and the good music makes the time go by quickly. I am watching the superbowl later today. I don't know a football from a fooseball but superbowl mania is up here too. My brother in the prairie provinces is watching as well...he even made pickled eggs for the occasion. Today the kids are coming and we are having Chinese food. I went to an Asian market yesterday and bought imitation duck made out of wheat gluten....tastes like the real thing to me plus a lot of salads. I am going to have a lot of veg. dishes. My car is still at the bottom of the hill but it is melting. Good your power stayed on Alice. I like the sound of the wind. Sometimes, maybe once or twice a year we get something called "the Squamish" blowing thru. I had better go and be a hostess, I just wanted to read what you girls had to say and what you were up to. Enjoy the superbowl! |
Hi there....
DH watched the whole football game, I went to bed after the first quarter. I wish I had stayed up to see the finish as it was an exciting game.
shebacat, How did your first day go with food and exercise? I know you can do it, and good luck for the rest of the week. You will know when you are ready for another cat. ledom, Have you had your quality time in the darkroom? You are right about weighing yourself after you have gotten to where you want to be so that you can nip any weight gain in the bud before it gets out of hand. It's much easier losing 1 or 2 lb. than trying to lose 10. judi, How did you like the Super Bowl? When I read about your imitation duck, I remembered seeing the real thing hanging, cooked, in Chinatown in NYC. That alone put me off of eating real duck. We are off to the Vet to get Lacee's health cert. for traveling. That means a lot of shots and the indignity of having her temp. taken:o Take care and enjoy your Mon. |
Good morning!
Alice, I did watch the super bowl! It was so exciting! That was the first time I ever watched it. I want to make it a yearly thing.
Poor Lacee, tell her the indignities will be worth it when she is out and about seeing new sights and smelling new smells. Yesterday, Bentley was over and Marley was quite excited and happy so maybe he is thinking that being the only dog around the place isnt quite as much fun as in the beginning. I am going to get my nails done, the gels are not as strong as the gel tips that are glued on but they are kinder to the nail beds...so I have broken a few of the tips and I have to get them repaired, having had nice ones I find it hard to go back to my own nails:( Snow is melting:) |
