Hello ALL! :)
Hope everyone's having a Wonderful Holiday Weekend. I can't believe 2002 is right around the corner. aphil, Thank you for your concern. Wow, I can't and don't even want to imagine what you went through with your son at 5 weeks old! I bet you two have a very special bond after all that. Wondering what you all eat in a typical day? Faith, I'll be praying for your son! How scary. Thanks for sharing what you eat every day.
Right now, I'm just trying to eat whatever I can get past my burning throat. Hot tea has been good along with light ice cream! I've been taking Aleve which is helping clear my head out a little. I hope I feel better by tomorrow! My friend from Australia will be here along with some other friends from Wisconsin. I'm also sad cause there were huge car crashes in my home county in PA this weekend. A handful of people died. I hope 2002 isn't as sad as this year was. In Christ, Pamela (looking forward to wearing my new workout shoes!!) |
just checking in
hi, hope everyone is doing well. faith your menus sound great, no wonder you are doing so well, you really got it together girl.
tomorrow is my get it together day, as soon as i get organized i will right some of my food choices down. i am already concerned because, i have to go out to dinner tomorrow. and i am not going to blow my first day back of back on program 100%. i know we can eat out and eat healthy, i just havent found a way to do it yet, so i really would appreciate any and all tips, advice and what you guys order out to stay on program. i never eat healthy when i go out to restaurants, but i am done with that now. i need to order something healthy. thanks guys. |
Faith-I am glad your menu is so diversified with fruit and veggies, and protein/nutrition bars instead of junk snacks. I do a lot of the same things you do. I usually have a nutrition bar, shake, or kashi cereal for my breakfasts-fruit or sugar free jello for snacks, and Healthy Choice or Lean Cuisine for lunch on the weekdays. For dinner I make a variety of meals and eat what my family does-I just watch portion sizes like you do-and try to substitute whatever I can to make it healthier-like Pam spray instead of oil in the pan, etc.
My exercise is Mon.,Wed.,Fri. weight training and Tue.,Thur., and Saturday with an aerobic activity like Tae-Bo,my bike, walking,or aerobic tape-I like to mix that part up so I do not get bored. Willbethin-I hope I can really help you with your eating out dillema. I ALWAYS have a non-calorie drink, like tea, coffee, water, or diet soda. I know you count with the WW point system-so here are some point values for you if you do not know them already: Applebee's-chk.stir fry 11 points-it is really good! Not sure of calories Blackened chk. salad-7 points or 420 calories Bob Evans-fruit plate-4 points or 250 calories chk. stir fry-10 points or 1100 calories-the calories may seem high, but it is high fiber, and if you plan and eat fruit it is a nice reward. Go to the websites of restaurants and get the calories from their products-if they are not listed you can amail them and get the information. Willbethin-put in ww points and the name of the place on your search and it will come up with links to that information. In restaurants-here is what I do: hot roll over a biscuit-and no butter I look for chicken salads-and ask for a lowfat dressing-most places have 1 or 2 now. Order grilled chicken or shrimp-and order a baked potato with the sour cream or butter on the side-they are both about 100 calories a Tablespoon-and if you put it on yourself, you can monitor how much there is-if they do it-you end up with 400 calories in butter! Avoid fried things, breaded things, and things with lots of butter, oil,or salad dressing. I hope this helps you! Everyone have a good new year! Aphil Outback |
Hey Ladies,
It sounds like everyone did well over the holidays! I on the other hand am afraid of even getting on the scale to see what I have gained. I've pretty much just been eating whatever I can get my hands on for an entire week. I guess I'm just going to be like most everyone else and start my diet again on Jan. 1st! It's just a little disappointing to realize that I can undo months of eating right in a matter of hours. Once I go off the wagon it's really hard for me to get back on.:nono: Food still has way more control over me than I would like to admit. Well, hope everyone has a great New Year's Eve! I haven't decided on my resolutions yet (even though I never keep them) but does anyone else still make them? Lexxy |
hello, lexxy, i maintained, i really ate stuff i wasnt suppose too. i am back on track today though. aphil thanks for all the great tips, i will definitly keep them all in mind and let you know who it goes.
have a happy new year and lets get those scales moving!!!! laidback, how is it going?? hi faith. |
Sorry, I just need to complain for a minute! I think I broke at least one of my toes last night and I have no idea how I am going about tonight! I am supposed to be wearing these high-heel boots to one of those all night, all-inclusive parties where I'd be dancing all night. I can barely even stand on it! This is on top of the $280 speeding ticket and the food poisoning I've also gotten this past week.
I'm ready for this year to be over! |
 HAPPY
NEW YEAR! |
happy new year, guys, hope everyone had a great night.
lexxy how did you do, sorry to hear about all that junk that is going on in your life . you have a lot on your plate. hope you are alright. 2002 has to be better. i was suppose to go out to dinner last night, and we decided to order in instead, it was so cold, i was comfy in my sweats and we just didnt feel like going out. i ordered very sensibly, but it took almost 2 hrs before it was ready and i starting snacking on popcorn and cocktails. i will have to make up for that today. i start ww meetings tomorrow night, so i will start weighing in on thurs. morn. i hope this is the jumpstart i need to get this weight off. lets have a great year and make this our year to get to goal, i am giving myself 6 months to lose 50 lbs. |
FOR LUCK IN THE NEW YEAR
Traditional New Year foods are also thought to bring luck. Many cultures believe that anything in the shape of a ring is good luck, because it symbolizes "coming full circle," completing a year's cycle. For that reason, the Dutch believe that eating donuts on New Year's Day will bring good fortune. Many parts of the U.S. celebrate the new year by consuming black-eyed peas. These legumes are typically accompanied by either hog jowls or ham. Black-eyed peas and other legumes have been considered good luck in many cultures. The hog, and thus its meat, is considered lucky because it symbolizes prosperity. Cabbage is another "good luck" vegetable that is consumed on New Year's Day by many. Cabbage leaves are also considered a sign of prosperity, being representative of paper currency. In some regions, rice is a lucky food that is eaten on New Year's Day. The above was taken from http://wilstar.com/holidays/newyear.htm Krispy Kreme Doughnut (glazed yeast) 200 calories Ham (1 oz) 30 calories Rice, brown (1/2 cup) 100 calories Black-eyed peas (1/2 cup) 120 calories Cabbage (1 cup cooked) 29 calories ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ A New Day This is the beginning of a new day. I have been given this day to use as I will. I can waste it, or use it. I can make it a day long to be remembered for its joy, its beauty and its achievements, or it can be filled with pettiness. What I do today is important because I am exchanging a day of my life for it. When tomorrow comes this day will be gone forever, but I shall hold something which I have traded for it. It may be no more than a memory, but if it is a worthy one I shall not regret the price. I want it to be gain not loss, good not evil, success not failure. ~~~Author Unknown |
Happy New Year! I'm ready to get back on track too.
Lexxy: It sounds like we had a similar week! I jammed a toe plus I think I got some food poisoning too. I wrote down everything I ate today and drank tons and tons of water. I'm still not feeling quite up to par but I'm doing a lot better than I was. I'm actually looking forward to my annual checkup! In Christ, Pamela |
For you gals having trouble with bra's, fabric stores and crafts stores sell bra extenders in the notions dept. I could'nt get by without them.

Happy New Year everyone!
it is about 5:30 am, and I am up and ready for my workout. I am going to be doing full body strength training today-woo-hoo! Faith-your choice of donut is so funny-a glazed yeast Krispy Kreme is just what I have when I need one too-they have the least calories-if that is not in your calorie books girls, jot that one down! Willbethin-maybe going back to meetings will be the jumpstart you need-having other people see your weight also may want you to keep it moving a bit more. I have made some resolutions for us all: 1.This year I will exercise at least 5 days a week-my diet will make me smaller, but nothing else will get rid of that jiggle. 2.I will drink lots of water. 3.I will take 2 minutes to really think before I put something into my mouth-am I hungry or just want the taste? How will I feel after I eat this? Will I be dissapointed with myself? 4.I will place an unflattering picture of myself on the fridge and in the inside door of the junk cabinet. 5.I will not let myself be sabatoged by friends or family-one more treat will hurt me. 6.I will treat myself like a queen-get my hair done, paint my toenails-we are all queens, and the people in our lives are lucky to have us. 7.I will find hobbies to do instead of eat and sit on the couch-even if it is just needlework or housecleaning. 8.I will do this for myself-not for my husband or boyfriend. 9.I will make good choices at the market. 10.I will try a new food, recipe,or exercise each week-nothing poos out a diet regime quicker than boredom. Have a good one, Aphil |
HAPPY NEW YEARS LADIES

"3.I will take 2 minutes to really think before I put something into my mouth-am I hungry or just want the taste? How will I feel after I eat this? Will I be dissapointed with myself? " This is my favorite of what you jotted down :) My other favorite is that queen business. You are so completely right. We always need to treat ourselves well. It's not just when we're slim and trim we deserve this, but everyday. My person goals for 2k2, is not to make any that way I know I won't break'em ;) but honestly I have only 2. Don't be so hard on myself and keep exercising consistantly. I've been going strong for six months have to refresh my spirit everyday. And speaking of days......my other goal is to handle each day as it comes and not look so far into the future...wait, that's 3 goals isn't it :dizzy: Ok, I'm off to walk on my treadmill. |
Hello,
Way to go on the resolutions aphil, those are some great challenges. I hate to say it, but I'm still not back on track with my eating. On the plus side however, my friend has convinced me to train with her to run the Cherry Blossom 10-miler in the beginning of April. Since I don't even think I could run a half-mile at this point, I have a lot of working out ahead of me! :dizzy: |
