Recommend a front loading washing machine?

  • My top loader finally died (yay!) and I'm in the market for a front loader. Any recommendations? Any to steer clear of? I'd love to hear anything anyone wants to tell me
  • I bought a Maytag front loader this summer and love it! We also seriously considered the LG brand.

Our salesman recommended that we not put any detergent in with the clothes for the first loads because top load machines leave a lot of soap in the clothes. Sure enough, the water was all sudsy!

    Good luck
  • I have a maytag Neptune. it does not get very good reviewsbut we have not had any trouble with it. You do udse less soap I think it clwans the close well and it is a lage capacity.
I do recomend that you get the lift thing that goes under the washe and dryer as it can be tough on the back to load and unload the laundry
  • Front loaders get clothes WAAAAAY cleaner. Its all in the aggitation. I don't know what brand to recommend, but a good rule of thumb is you get what you pay for. Look for a good warranty, as well.

    Good luck!!
  • Lg
I got an LG almost a year ago. Stacked washer and dryer and love them. The opening on the LG was bigger then the other front loaders I looked at and it gets my clothes very clean and soft. The dryer actually gets the clothes dry before the washer is done becuase it spins the water out so well.
  • Well, we have a Bosch front load washer and dryer and I love the dryer but hate the washer. Yes, they use less water and I think that is the reason I don't care for it. It does NOT get the clothes cleaner, I don't feel like it does anyway. We are getting ready to sell them both and go back to the top loader ones. Don't know about the reviews on these particular ones but for the money ($1700) I don't think it was worth it at all. And that didn't include the stands/drawers! We are going to end up taking a BIG loss but it will be worth it to me to get the top loader washer again. Good luck!
  • We have ordered a GE set. Don't know how they work yet, but a lifelong family friend who owns an appliance store sold them to me. I figure he should know.
  • Love the front loader, as it is kinder on clothes (cleans through rotation, causing the clothes to fall inside the drum vice being swirled around with a plastic blade), uses less detergent (you don't need the fancy stuff, just less of the regular stuff and a liquid detergent is best), and less water. The capacity is greater, too, so
    more laundry
    less water
    less soap
    longer lasting clothes.
    Works for me!
