I just need to vent, feel free to ignore me.
Wake up, got dressed for jog, and headed out the door. So far, so good, right? I got up, did my thing, started my jog.
I forgot that the middle school has started classes. I jog right around 7:15-8:00 every morning...right when school starts. The jogging only started around the beginning of summer, so I didn't realize. Did I mention I live smack between a middle school, a high school, and an elementary school? And this is the first time I've jogged since school went into session here? (i've been doing other cardio, I haven't been slacking I swear).
I almost got hit 6 (count them...6!) times this morning....4 times by middle schoolers on bicycles who refuse to recognize the fact that they have to stop at stop signs (don't know about the rest of the country, but in CA, bicycles have to follow the same rules as cars), that they can't do tricks hopping onto the sidewalks when there are pedestrians standing on the sidewalks, and that cutting off pedestrians and spinning in front of them is not cute, nor is it rebellious or particularly impressive. Especially when they are running, and already pissed off at the three asses who have almost hit them already.
The other two people were giant SUVs, driven by harried moms on cell phones, who were making wild turns trying to get their kids to school. Now, I can give middle-school aged bicyclists a bit of leeway - you're not likely to do a ton of personal or property damage with a bike, you're not fully mature, etc. But WHY on earth would you drive erratically on a cell phone RIGHT IN FRONT OF A SCHOOL, which is filled with middle-school aged kids on bikes, on foot, and getting out of cars if you're a rational adult? One actually hit my leg, and even that only because I was paying attention and jumped back as fast as I could. The other had to swerve and almost cause an accident to avoid me, a pedestrian in the crosswalk, crossing in accordance with all traffic rules. The kicker? Both flipped me off like it was my fault.
OK, to top it all off. I get back to my apartment (which faces the street) and there is this horrible vomiting sound. Apparently some elementary or middle-school aged kid, riding in a group of three or so kids, got sick. And being kids, at least two of the others started throwing up too. This didn't so much make me mad (I mean, they're kids, and the poor things felt sick), but it is rather disgusting to have a lawn full of puke.
This is the worst morning I've had in a LONG time.
