wedding invitations
Hey all! I'm trying to pick out my wedding invitations, and the wording i'm seeing in them bugs me. It's always some very poignant, sweet verse, then they put the actual invitation stuff (church address and such, and the date). My fiancee and I (and both our families) have a great sense of humor, and I want something funny to have on the invitations instead of the normal sugary stuff (NOTE: there is nothing wrong with normal sugary stuff, it's just not for us). So does anybody have any ideas? funny quotations about love, marriage, etc? A brief funny poem? Don't hold back--we have a great sense of humor and we're looking for different. I know you chickies out there always have great ideas!

Make your own invitations. We did, it was cheaper, and we got exactly what we wanted. We had them printed up at our local copy center (we had a background design with a faery and unicorn on thick paper and a vellum overlay with the invitation - you know, so the background would show through). We bought some ribbon at walmart, and put them together ourselves.
Anyway, find some stuff you like, visit your local copy center (I'm sure they have plenty of examples of invitations they have printed) and check out if it is feasible to make your own. |
I am making my own invitations but I have to figure out the wording as well. I bought an invitation kit at walmart for 20 dollars and it even comes with access to a website that has templates. My future in-laws gave us a spare printer that they had and we are going to print them out ourselves.

I just want to express the shared pain about invitation wording...especially if you have a unique family structure that doesn't really fit into the wedding invite mode.
How does one word an invitation when the people paying for the wedding are the couple, the still-married parents of one of the people to be married, as well as the gay father of the other person to be married and his partner (but not the mother of the other person...). |
