Favorite Athlethes
What athletes inspire you? I am a big Lance Armstrong fan, i even bought a livestrong bracelet, i just think winning 7 tour de france and beating cancer is just mind boggling. He is such an inspiration. Another favorite is Maria Sharapova, she is such a good tennis player. I saw she is the new spokesperson for the new LR2 (like a livestrong bracelet i would love to buy one, but havent yet, LOL). So who are your favorite athletes? who inspires you?

Cathy Freeman, the Australian sprinter. She has overcome so much, is very honest, and a fantastic role model, as well as being a superb athlete.
Susie Maroney - another Australian, who has completed many long distance swims, inlcuing swimming from Florida to Cuba. She is a lifelong asthmatic. Paula Radcliffe the English marathon runner, who also has asthma. Tani Grey-Thomson, the Welsh para-olympian, Great Britains most successful para olympian. There are loads of others, but those are my four biggies! |
Sue Bird - basketball player, plays unselfish team ball.
Steve Largent - played pro football back in the 70's and 80's, long on heart and desire which helped overcome average talent and got him into the Hall of Fame. Edgar Martinez - pro baseball player in the 90's and 00's, just retired. Great personality, awesome pure hitter. Danika Patrick - race car driver, a talented woman in a field dominated by men. Detlef Schrempf - pro basketball player, now retired, and heavily involved in community charity work. |
Joe Ferguson...he was the quarterback to the Buffalo Bills in the early 80's and...well...a quarterback is only as good as his offensive line. Anyway, I met him when I was 14 with my dad and he said I was pretty. :cloud9:

Mauresmo...the underdog.

I admire "what" Lance Armstrong has done as an athlete, I actually am not a big fan of his as a person. His views on God and family are way different than mine. I also have purchased quite a few yellow wrist bands in support of the cause against cancer ~ one of the first actually. Are you aware that it was NIKE'S idea?
There are many outstanding athletes out there, a couple that come to my mind are: DIKEMBE MUTOMBO ~ NBA Denver Nuggets retired ~ Social Issues in Democratic Republic of the Congo ~ VERY much involved with good things in his country! AC GREEN Lakers and Suns NBA retired ~ Many outstanding foundations in support of youth and morals ~ visibly promoted sexual abstinence during his NBA career ~ married as a virgin at 38!! Just a couple of the good guys!! |

GO BILLS!!!!
this 50+ woman who is in my body sculpting class that puts us all to shame - she has been my biggest inspiration because I want to be like that when I am that age! |
Steve Yzerman....an all round great guy.

I'm a big Lance Armstrong fan. Just to win 1 time is an amazing thing - but 7 times is remarkable! Especially knowing he raced with stomach flues, hip injuries and all kinds of stuff! Add to that the cancer comeback and he is a driven, remarkable statement to never giving up!

That being said (IMO) I agree! Lance is a great athlete...but as far as being a good guy....NAH! |
