I work for a well known (and possibly detested now that we have been bought by a major corporation) printing company, and do some business card consulting in my position. So, here is what I would say to a customer who brought these cards and asked me which one I thought best represented their company.
1.) Definitely go with one of the cards with the 2-tone background presentation. They give the impression that the card holder is part of a company (and therefore reliable) and not an individual who might turn out to by fly-by-night. 2.) (Please don't hate me, my feminist instincts are already cringing at what I am about to say.:^:) Stay away from "feminine" colors schemes (pinks) and go for "neutral" or "masculine" colors (anything but pink). I know, I know, but it is sadly true that while women will pay attention to a card with any color scheme, men will ignore cards with a percieved feminine theme. You'll be, in effect, limiting your potential customer base.:( 3.) Go for the logo: people like an image that seems "logoish" on a card- again, this is related to the fact that people want to know that you will be there next month and next year to continue to support your product. So, with this in mind, I would choose the blue/green plant theme (plant=development?, looks logo-y). However, I would suggest that the plant be put on the right side of the card, not the left. The reason: the "motion" of the plant image (how your eye moves when you first look at it) is moving the viewers eye from right to left, away from where you want them to look- your name and contact information. By moving it to the other side, you'd be directing their eye right where you want it. Okay, now that I sound like a know-it-all jerk, you have my vote. Really, though, you should go with the card that you think most accurately represents your company. Good Luck!:) |

Sotypical... if you still are reading these... thought I'd weigh in...
i REALLLY like the ones on the right without the bar. But the advice from andoreth makes sense to me. Since you wanted something femnine, could you keep the butterful (which I LOVE.. with tthe larger faded one and teh smaller darker one) but do with less pink and girly colors? Something a bit bolder might help bring it not so girly, yet keeping the creative feminine look. LOVE the ones with the two butterflys... didn't really love the color bar.... :) |
