The religion thread is so much fun, let's talk politics!

No, not really. :lol3:

Seriously, or rather, not seriously...Let's have a total fluff thread.

I was born in San Antonio, Texas. I am currently living in Honolulu, Hawaii. This means I am 3,712 miles away from home.

Can anyone beat that? :D (Good tool for calculating distances here.)

LadyFirelyght 05-04-2006 06:50 AM

I was born in Wellsville, New York and grew up in Seattle, Washington. That's a distance of about 2182 miles. I currently live in San Antonio, go figure! I love this place. It's only 1441 miles from Wellsville. You know, I haven't been there since I was born.

btw, congrats on getting back to your pre-preg weight :D

THANK GOD...there's one thing I always get drawn into and get in trouble with...politics. It's such a passionate subject, and somebody is always there to disagree with me...passionately...and ruin my day.

I agree...let's NOT talk about politics.

Well, I grew up in Rochester NY and now I live in Cape Vincent NY...where I spent all my fun summers...exactly 92 miles away....but feels like 3000 miles sometimes!!

:D

Hobart Tasmania to Manchester England 10 669 miles

:p :p :p

:D

Well, I only live 167 miles from where I grew up in Concord, MA, but that is by way of 7 years in Atlanta, GA and anther 2 in Toronto, Ont. so I have managed to get around a good bit. :)

hahaha, yeah, I think you win. That's probably just about as far away from a place as you can get.

dalai_lala 05-04-2006 08:37 AM

Not so far for me. I was born in Beckley, WVa and am in Orlando, FL now... only 629 miles.

Nifty thread idea...

Shoot! Don't tease a person with politics then say "not really". Grrrrrrrrrr

I get around myself. Moved from my home state of WV and spent around 8 years in Concord, NH. Then moved from there to VA Beach, and now I'm back where I started in WV. About 45 minutes from where I started though. Didn't want to move right back from Point B to Point A.

Right now I live about a mile and a half from where I grew up... I did live about 29 miles away but then moved back. Soon I'll be moving to Madison, which is about 177 miles away...after that ( since I'll only be in Madison for about a year and a half) it may be Cincinatti, OH

Jen415 05-04-2006 09:25 AM

Let's see...born in Kentucky, raised in Indiana by Kentuckian parents (that's a handicap right there! LOL), brief stint in Cincinnati for college, back to Indiana for about 19 years, then moved to east central Florida. So...I guess 1100 miles from where I was raised.

I have four kittens who live with me, one mile away from my parents and my husband's parents (in opposite directions).

My favorite kitten is a little blue and white tom who I think is going to be HUGE--if he makes it to adulthood! I'm worried about him because he's getting to that "exploration" stage and I'm afraid he'll "explore" his way right into one of the neighbor's dogs' mouths.

He is FLUFFY, though. That's my FLUFF contribution!

I grew up in a tiny little town called Rossville in Indiana. I did live in Wahiawa, HI for about 4 years. That was 4318 miles. But now my husband and I are at Ft. Huachuca in southern Arizona. It's 1457 miles. We may be moving to Houston. We're meeting tonight with the guy who might be hiring him. If all goes well, he'll get the job and we can get out of the Army. If he doesn't hire him, I guess we'll stay in. Wish us luck! Please!!!!

Well, I'm only a couple of thousand miles away from where I was born, so I can't top GBMM or Kykaree on that one. But my son was born when I lived overseas, so he's currently about 5,000 miles away from his birthplace. Does that count? Not that it comes close to Kykaree's distance. :)

Dalai Lala, my mom is from Beckley and I still have relatives there. I'd love, love, love to get a trip back to Beckley to see them again and do some genealogical/historical research, but it's about 2000 miles away, so it doesn't look like it's going to happen any time soon. Have you had a chance to go back recently?

Mummy_Tummy 05-05-2006 03:07 AM

I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. I've seen it mentioned a few times in this thread.:D I now live in Shoeburyness in England. It's 3965 miles (6381 km) from Cincy to London and 42 miles from London to Shoebury soooo...4007 miles. Is that 2nd place?:carrot:

I've seen a formula for determining your porn star name. Take your middle name and then use the name of the street that you grew up with as your last name. So I'd be Renee Liberty.:dizzy: That's my offering to the randomness of this thread!:o

Sassy_Chick 05-05-2006 04:00 AM

Well I haven't moved too far. I was born and raised in a very small town, Batesville, IN and now I live only about 68 miles away in another small town called Lebanon, OH. (outside of Cincinnati, OH which I see has been mentioned a few times here)

Also We did live in Victor, NY (outside of Rochestor, which I see was mentioned too) for one year.
