I lied - it's a Hamilton Beach ...maybe the first one was Black and Decker...

Here's another cleaning trick especially if you want to eat before your food gets cold. Wet a paper towel and lay it on the grill and close the grill. It will keep the food remains nice and soft so they can be easily cleaned. Also, somewhere I found these sponges shaped specially for the grill..K-Mart maybe? They're wonderful. I've had my grill for a while and only started using it again recently. Unfortuntately I've lost the recipe/instruction book.

How do you cook chicken and brown it? I know I did it in the past, but I put my grill in storage and then forgot about it. I've recently tried it again and I have tried a few times to make 'pretty chicken' but it's just pale with brown stripes. Ick.

Marinated eggplant, onions, tomatoes, etc are really good on it, though. I keep the top up for most of it so they have time to get tender without the marinade burning.

Other than a quick brown in another pan before it goes on the grill? Maybe a dark colored marinade? Something with balsamic vinegar pehaps? I'll have to experiment and let you know...I haven't done chicken on the grill in a little while...I've been in crock pot mode for chicken lately. MMMMMMMMMMMMMM soup :T

I use either a browning sauce or liquid smoke.

Bragg's Amino Acids ... it's kind of a seasoning that makes stuff brown.

I just got one for Christmas as well. We paid a little extra and got the one that has a timer, adjustable temp and removeable grills... So far it has been excellent.

I love my GF grill. Use it for chicken and steaks and burgers. it does tend to try some foods out too much, like sausage, but I still think its cons out weight its benefits.
