fitday.com - Am I doing it right?

I've used FitDay.com for a while, and I always seem to come out very low in the calorie counts when I add everything up.

Also, I was wondering if (for others who use it)... about the distribution of calorie sources (the pie graph thing)... how important is it that calories come from certain sources? (i.e., do I need more protein in proportion to carbs/fat? or is there any kind of optimum ratio?)

Lately, also, I've just started a new job, so I'm eating considerably less than when I was just sitting around the house and looking for work (I was in that in between period between college and "the real world").

I know I've been told by various people that it's not a good idea to eat too few calories. I've been wondering if that has anything to do with the fact that I've been basically maintaining lately and not really going down in the scales?

First of all congratulations on losing 16 lbs. That's awesome work.
As for fitday ...it'll only add what you put in. If you are putting everything in accurately .... then it's right. How low do you mean? The problem with going too low is lack of nutrients. If you honestly are feeling well (not sluggish) on low cals, take a muiltvitamin. That will help with that.
The calorie sources? .... protein and carbs actually have nutrients in them. It's better to have higher percentages of those.
The whole deal is about calories in and calories out. As long as your calories burned is more than your calories consumed, you'll lose weight.
Can you link us to your fitday or give us some examples? We can have a look and see what we think is happening. Theoretically, if you are eating less and getting around more due to the new job, the weight will start coming off soon.

Actually, I think what might be the problem is that I shop at natural foods stores a lot and a lot of those brands are not listed in the list, so I end up adding them manually. And I'm not always sure I'm measuring exact amounts, etc.

And yeah.... i've lost since I was on WeightWatchers... I've just hit a snag...

I think it started around Halloween when I had just lost all self control and ended up binging on candies and such... since then, I haven't been able to get back the will power.

It's frustrating to me especially since I didn't gain most of my weight through just eating unhealthily. A large amount came from having been on medication, but that was years ago...

I also think it came from just shifting lifestyles, as I was vegan... then switched to eating lots of dairy and started eating more fattening foods, and then I think I went overboard... plus going back to school and getting all that dorm food doesn't help...

*sigh* just need to get motivated again...
