Question Help with posting pictures?

Every time I try to post pictures I get a message that my file is too big. This is doing nothing for my ego :-)! Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Thanks!

Sounds like you'll need to reduce your file size I'm guessing you are trying to upload it to your post as an attachment, right? Images can be no larger than 500 pixels high or wide, and also no larger than 50 kilobytes in file size (51200 bytes)

Question

Hi Suzanne -

How do I do that? I have tried various pictures and they are always too large. They are just regular snapshots that are on CD. If I cut part of the picture out will that reduce the file size? Sorry to be so dumb about it!!

Thanks!

Try opening your picture up and clicking on edit....then compress picture...then compress for email....you may have to compress it more than once before you get it small enough....and you are not dumb...just takes a little time...you will get it.

It depends on what program you have to view pictures in. When you open a picture, does it come up in just a viewer (with no menu at the top) or in a program with a menu? If you see a menu, look under the options in the menu and find "Resize". Then resize the picture. You should be able to view the height and width in either inches OR pixels. Change it to pixels if not already there, and then change the largest (height or width) to 500. The other will change automatically and keep the correct proportions.

You SHOULD have a picture program, but if not, and you only have a viewer, right click on the picture and click properties. Then click the "Advanced..." button (if you have Windows XP anyway, not sure with the older versions), then check the "Compress contents to save disk space" box and click OK.

BTW, you might want to do a "Save As" with the resized picture so you don't lose the nice quality larger original.
