My Diet is Better Than Yours --TV Show
Has anyone been watching this show, "My Diet is Better Than Yours?" What do you all think of it so far? I've found it interesting as they compare diets and what seems to be working for some people. Still, I think some of these diets are bit odd, and their trainers even odder! Who ever heard of a trainer camping out in your front yard everyday?!!
|
Television. I hope they don't inspire anyone to do anything dangerous. For those of us who haven't seen the program, what is one of the odd ones you've seen?
|
It's kind of a combination of a lot of things for me. One trainer advocates blue plates because it "makes you calmer" and purple sheets to help you sleep more. Same trainer that's camping out in the front yard too...
Another trainer, on the cLean Momma Plan, advocates taskercising, which means you find ways to exercise at home all day long. If you're doing the dishes, do a squat, if you watching tv, do some pushups, and so forth. This trainer never gave clear instructions on the diet part so she ended up getting dropped. They don't actually give you specific details on the diet plans of each trainer, but gives you tibits here and there. I like the smoothie idea, but could I maintain it for a week without eating solid food? Ech.... |

I can see how that show might be good for ideas here or there. Some of it seems a little silly. Blue plates? Ha okay... :P |
It's too bad they are not using the show as an opportunity to educate us all.
Instead, it's all the emotional drama and none of the substance. That being said, I do watch it. It's like a trainwreck. I have to look. |
It's better than the Biggest Loser as it focuses solely on their everyday lives, meaning they're not stuck at a ranch for weeks on end. Still, I would have liked to have seen more information on the diet plans itself.
One girl dropped out just because she didn't like her trainer. They were going to go for 7 weeks without a trainer and she still dropped out anyway. I would've sucked it up if it meant $50,000 dollars at the end at least.... |

While I like that these are plans that people do at home, I think some of this stuff is a little over the top. The butter in the coffee, for example. I can't stomach that. |
Sorry! Thought everyone had seen it by that point. My bad! And I agree about the butter in the coffee....it's just not right...LOL
|
I find it ironic that people say "eww grose" to butter in coffee and yet people put heavy whipping cream in there coffee. Whats the difference? None! Butter is solidified heavy whipping cream...thats it
|
I agree. It's just like Bulletproof coffee, which is all the rage with low carbers. I think the taskercizing is a great idea! We have become less physical with modern conveniences, so adding a bit of muscle into your day is a good thing. Like, if you use a Roomba to vacuum your room, don't sit in your recliner and watch soaps while it's working, find another chore to do, and make it count!
Having said this, I have never seen this show , but I never take television weight loss seriously. Just another game show. |

I have not seen this show either, but I do watch the biggest loser every season. I saw an ad for this show the other night, it looked a little whacky to me. glad to hear some details. That's been a beef of mine on the BL too, they don't really discuss what the participants EAT as much as the focus on all day exercise, which is not realistic.
|
I watched it. I thought the most sensible was the Super Swap (was that what it was called?) Plan. It just seemed sensible and not overly wacky.
I thought the taskercize was ridiculous. I get working in activity/exercise into daily tasks but I am not going to do walking lunges while pushing my grocery cart while grocery shopping. |

Retro & wannabe - I love taskercise - in moderation :) and NOT in public. Squats while I blowdry my hair, a plank while reading on my cellphone... ;)
I love whipped cream in my coffee - butter and coconot oil can be great. The saltyness of butter even cuts the bitterness of coffee (old Italian trick to put a pinch of salt in the coffee pot). My biggest problem with it is that it seems to burn my tongue more?? I'll probably never watch this show :) |
