toothpaste? who knew?
something ive just discovered that some of you may find useful.
So, my silver jewellery tends to tarnish really quickly but ive discovered a quick rub down with toothpaste removes it all and leaves it sparkling in under 2 minutes! Just rub on, leave for 30 seconds and rinse off! Anyone else have strange but wonderful tips like this? |
Huh, I never knew that. Neat!
I use nail polish remover to get rid of extra adhesive left over from band aids and bandages. You know, the lines of sticky stuff that stay on your skin afterwards forever? Nail polish remover takes it off. I also use nail polish remover to get permanent marker off of glass. Easy. I sometimes use jars (if they look nice) that have had jam in them or something (usually from a farmers market). To get stubborn labels off, I soak them for a little while and then use steel wool to get the adhesive off. Scrapes it right off and doesn't hurt the glass at all. |

Thanks for this tip! I have a few Alex & Ani bracelets that have gotten very dull. I have those cloth jewelry cleaner wipes that are supposed to remove tarnish but they aren't that helpful so I'll have to try this!

I've used toothpaste for silver as well and it works brilliantly.
A tip for cleaning a microwave with a lemon (you might know this but anyway): Pour some water in a bowl and slice a lemon in half. Squeeze some lemon juice to the water and put the lemon halves to the water as well. Microwave the water and lemon halves for 2 - 3 minutes. Keep the microwave door closed for another 5 minutes to let the steam work its magic. Open the door and wipe the microwave clean. Works like a charm :) |
Rubbing alcohol for sticky items, like labels on glassware or the like. Pour some on let it sit and it takes the goo with it. Also works well if you cut down your own Christmas tree and have pine sap on your hands, which of course I did a few weeks ago.

Peanut butter removes gum from hair. I really wish I didn't know this as well as I do!

also crushed aspirin mixed with fresh lemon juice, put on your feet, wrap with clingfilm every night for a week. with the help of a gentle scraping - removes hard skin like a dream

Another tip I learned that works like a charm with toothpaste is water stains on furniture.
That's right I had a cup ring on my furniture I tried everything and the paste trick worked. Put toothpaste on dry cloth rub in circular motions lightly. Wipe off if there is still a mark repeat. |
right now im using lemon juice mixed with aspirin as a hard skin remover for my feet
