One Eyed Jacks
 

In this old movie a bank robber played by Marlon Brando is betrayed by his partner in the trade and goes to prison while his partner escapes with the money and becomes a sheriff.

So 'Marlon' devotes the rest of his life to getting revenge.

Two out of two women (my wife and her friend) I talked to about this could not understand his behavior, which to me is perfectly understandable.
The woman in the movie couldn't understand it either.

Yet some women do pursue revenge.

What am I missing here?

Men are more likely to have a one-track mind? :lol: ;)

I wonder if it's more psychological as men are predisposed to gaining power in relationships where women seek harmony. That's all I've got :)

Can you personally, in your head or in your guts, understand the actions of the Brando character?

So far two out of two women I asked could not, and the woman in the picture sort of explained her position.

For women, getting revenge seems somehow more voluntary.

I personally couldn't devote my time to getting revenge like that, but I do understand the motivation behind it. I hold grudges for a long time, I just don't actively think about getting that person back. Unless it's in the moment and they've done something really bad, but not long term. Maybe. I don't really think about it :)

So let's say three out of three women don't do this. :)

A lawyer at the gym brought up an interesting point.
He said that while the guy was in prison he had nothing else to do except plot revenge, but once he was out he had many more options but continued to act like he was in prison.
Therefore, the prison was now of his own making, a mental prison.

Maybe the mental prisons are more difficult to escape than the real ones! :)
