What scale do you use?

  • My scale is having some major issues. I can step on it five times and get five different readings. Is there a scale that you like that is consistent? If it measures body fat that is a plus
  • Has your scale always done that? From what I've read, it's as much about the floor you put it on as the scale itself, so if it's always been that way it might not be the scale?

However, I use mine on linoleum (not recommended but its all I have aside from carpet) and it is consistent and got great reviews on Amazon. Not body-fat though. It's the BalanceFrom High Accuracy Digital Bathroom Scale.
  • I hate all scales. But here's the rundown:
So I made a post about this a few days ago. I have two scales. One is just a regular old el cheapo analog (about 10 dollars), and the other is a body fat scale that cost me about 30 or so dollars from Wal-Mart. The digital one is being very very mean lately, and not very consistent;I mean a six or seven pound difference here! So I tend to want to believe the nicer analog scale. I stepped on the ones at the gym, and they have 2 as well, an analog and a digital. They have an even bigger discrepancy in weight. The analog is even nicer to me than mine, even with all my clothes on and a belly full of water! Their digital is even meaner.
So like I said, I hate all scales. But the one I hate the most is my digital one, a health-o-meter brand. I don't even know how much I actually weigh, due to the scales all lying to me. The dig one I have has body fat and water measurements, and I don't believe any of it!
A lot of people like the doctor type medical scales over any of the retail types, but I know many people here are fond of their regular models. I just hope you don't buy the same d@mned scale I bought. It will lie to you and cost you money for muchos batteries!
  • I use a digital scale kept in the bathroom. It appears fairly consistent with the scale at the doctor's office. One time, for the heck of it, I moved the scale to the carpeted hallway. Boy, was that seven pound weight loss nice to look at! LOL!
  • I've been using the Conair Weight Watchers Digital Scale (model #WW4N) and I quite like it. Before that I had pretty crappy scales and never knew you could "love" a scale. I got mine at Costco for about $30. I would say go to Costco and buy whatever scale they have (totally recommend digital scales) because I'm sure they only stock quality scales.
  • I use Ozeri, purchased on Amazon for 55.00 (It's the one with the 4 metallic discs). I keep it in my bedroom because it says to store in a dry place. The batteries last pretty long and are cheap to buy on Amazon. I weigh myself in the bathroom, on a hard tile surface--hard even surface is essential. It's readings are consistent with my coach's scale.

It provides body fat %, muscle, water, and bone. I don't think these are particularly accurate but I do keep on eye on the trends. The fat % seems to be consistent with what my weight & measurements are doing.
  • I swear by my detecto - it's the same one my doctor uses in his office. Wasn't cheap but will last forevor and never again do I have to deal with th uncertainty of cheap scales

No it's been recent and it takes some weird lithium battery that claims to not need replaced. It's only about 1.5 years old.
  • i have a cheap walmart scale i would love a wifi scale but 100 is alot to put down for a scale
  • Love my Withings wifi scale. Couldn't be without it now.
  • I had a great Jenny Craig scale, about five years ago it was seventy or so dollars. It gave the body measurement of fat percentage, and it was attractive. I got tired of the obsession I had with weighing myself on it a lot so I threw it out but I wish I still had it. I'm debating getting another scale.
  • I use the EatSmart Precision Digital Bathroom Scale w/ Extra Large Lighted Display available on Amazon.

You are all mad not to use one. Doesn't do body fat though as most scales that do just report BS.

how often do you use it?
