scale issues?

  • Well I'm a tad OCD with my scale and I will usually weigh myself 3-4 times to ensure the number is correct.

Well, I stepped on the scale this morning and the initial number said 246.2, I stepped on it again and it said 243.8, and that is where it stayed when I stepped on it 3 more times.

Do I go with the second number? Or do I average out that number and the initial number?

Wasn't sure where to post this, so I put it here, sorry if I got that wrong.
  • Is it battery op? Replace the battery if so. And FYI, if it were me I would go with the first number on the premiss that tomorrow would potentially show an even larger drop if the second number were actually correct
  • Oh, I'd go with the lower number, even if I'd only weighed myself twice.

Seriously, if you got that number weighing three times, it's probably the correct one. The first one may have been from stepping on the scale incorrectly or if it's electronic, it wasn't in ready mode yet. I've found that my feet have to be completely on my scale or else the readings will be different even if I get right back on.
  • Yup the batteries are fine, brand new as of 3 days ago actually.

Yeah it's a digital scale, I'm just worried about it's accuracy as it was a $20 weight watchers one lol.

I have this notion that all scales want to LIEEEEE
  • I have the same problem with my scales. I changed the batteries but it must just be that they are old.
I should buy a new one but i'm scared that the new one will show me a higher (more correct) reading haha.
So I just go with the number that shows up the most.
  • I have the same issue, but mine's really old. I'm going to be buying a new one today.
  • are u using it on carpet or hard floor?? i noticed if its not on a flat floor it will read differently! went from carpet to floor and there was a 2 pound difference... also it might not be as accurate if an older one.

Me too!! Mines is really old, batteries new, just replaced them because of it giving so many different weights, and AFRAID to buy a new one that the weight will be higher!! lol

OP- I get the same thing, different weights, sometimes by like 2 pounds. Last time this happened, it was the batteries so I replaced them this time, but that didnt help...scale is a cheap WW one also! But its alo about 6 years old..
  • My scale does the same thing (has since the day I bought it). The second number is always different from the first and it will always stick with the second number, so that's the one I use. It's usually, but not always, the lower of the two numbers.

I have the Biggest Loser Taylor scale.

On a tangent, I was at Target the other day and noticed all of the scales went to at least 300 (some 400) pounds. I bought the scale I did, because it was the only one there at the time that went over 250. My how things change.
