I read this article today. I'm not quite sure what to make of the apology.

Wow. That's powerful. I don't really have any cogent comments; it's a lot to think about.

Interesting. Not sure what to think, except society norms and people wanting to make a quick buck off the 'norms' have caused many issues.

I think the most upsetting think is reading that this person, and their company accepted younger clients who didn't need to lose weight and were only there because their cruel, evil, mothers thought they were fat! That part just made me sad.

I will say this though. When I was younger, I was shamed by Doctors, and forced to see a nutritionist / dietitian at the age of 8. I cried a lot and I wasn't really that pudgy. I was just starting to get 'boobs'.

I do believe that our culture puts far more value and acceptance on the binge-starve rollercoaster than on eating and exercising sensibly.

There's almost an attitude of "moderation is for chumps."

We don't have the patience for moderation, because it yields moderate results, and we've been taught to expect, want, and demand rapid weight loss, so much so that slow results are often considered no better than no results.

Learning to overcome that ingrained mindset is often more than half the battle, sometimes 90% of the battle.
