Silly ways to look like you lost weight...

  • I heard an ad on the radio today, which basically went like this (remember, it's almost June!):

So... you made a New Years resolution to lose weight, right? Losing weight is hard. Instead, try whitening your teeth!! It will make you look years younger, you will be amazed!!!

What silly ways have you heard to make it look like you've lost weight?
  • I always seem to be hearing 'get a [fake] tan, it'll knock off those pounds!'

I tried one of those lotions once that are meant to build up a 'natural glow', looked like i'd been bathing in tea after just one use! I don't think I'll ever pull off anything other than the ghostly look, so I guess I better get exercising!
  • I don't know if it's national or not, but there is a commercial that runs in Denver and they call it the Life Style Lift...a.k.a a face lift.

Great, my chin looks skinnier...now I just have to wear a refrigerator box around the rest of my body. Do you think people will notice?
  • LOL, white teeth = thin body! Too funny. I've seen/heard lots of gimmicks that claim to make you look younger, but less so as far as making you look thinner. Unless you count shape wear and the miracle suit (swim suit), but those actually do help.
  • 1. Get a tan
    2. Wear color-blocking clothes that "trick" the eyes... haha
  • Oh lord... color blocking.... that's an unfortunate trend for a lot of women on the high end of the plus size spectrum. I saw a few women in color block dresses this spring that looked like a wide stretch of highway. It may have just been a poor cut/fit, but yeesh!

I saw an ad for a spanx knock off not long ago that claimed you'd look 50 pounds lighter. Right.......
  • Wearing clothes with a bold pattern helps hide bulges.

Wrap dresses look good on anyone - my sister had one that looked amazing on us 3 sisters, and we all have completely different body shapes.

Pants that are higher waisted make your legs look longer and you look leaner - same with empire-waisted dresses

Even the right-fitting bra can make your waste look thinner.

(I'm a little addicted to What Not To Wear, can you tell? )
