Garden Gnomes
 

My friend an I have been having a discussion about garden decorations. My boyfriend hates garden gnomes and I think they're adorable!

My friend thinks they're cute too! However, her husband things they indicate swingers live in the house. :o (I know everyone has their opinions and preferences about different things, but this is intended as a light hearted discussion. So please, no derogatory remarks.)

I think it sounds silly. I mean where would someone come up with garden gnomes?? I googled it and saw one answer that indicated garden gnomes, pink flamingos, and white rocks.

So, two questions:

1) Am I that naive and that's really what it means?

2) Can you think of any other urban legends where you were surprised when you found out they were true/untrue?

I better go get my garden gnome out of the front yard if that's what it means! I never heard that before...but maybe now with my weightloss we might get a few more door knockers! :rofl:

If that's the case, then my sister in law is a lot more frisky than she lets on!

Another interesting question is, why does your friend's husband know this?

Have a Garden Gnome by the Crabtree in the frontyard surrounded by flowers ...soo Besides me being Tacky and flower crazy ...I'm a Swinger and I don't even have a swing in my backyard! I could go to the park to swing ...How high do I need to go! Don't want to get a nosebleed:dizzy:

I've never heard this! But I do remember hearing about the pineapple being a symbol in the hospitality industry. A pineapple meant "husband's away! Come play!" and no pineapple meant he was home.
That's what one of my professors used to tell us anyway! (or maybe it was the opposite....might need to google) :lol:

I haven't heard that about the gnomes, but I have heard the white rocks rumor. I did see I nice, understated gnome at the garden center today... good thing I didn't buy it!

when I was younger it was if someone looked at a guy (like in a bar setting etc) and tugged on their left ear, they were asking if that guy was gay...because back then wearing an earring in the left ear indicated that they were gay

and when I was younger, if someone was holding hands and one person scratched the inside of the other person's hand a few times, it was a sign that they were asking to have sex

how do I know these things? LOLOL!
