Default Graduation Gift Ideas - Help!

I need to get a graduation gift for a senior by next weekend and I have no idea what to get her. She's having a graduation party next weekend.

I've known her since she was in elementary school and she attended my childcare center. Then she grew up and came back to work for me. She's worked for me since she was a freshman. But we are also close outside of work. She comes to my kids' birthday parties and DH lets her ride with him on his motorcycle. I went to her cheerleading events and a huge Girl Scout function that she organized.

She's very involved in activities such as student council, art festival, girl scouts, cheerleading and more. She is also legally blind and can never get a drivers license due to a tumor in her head that destroyed her peripheral vision as a child.

What in the world would be a good graduation gift for her?? Help!

Is she graduating from High School and heading to college in the fall? If so, there are probably a LOT of things that she will need...do you have a budget?

yes graduating high school and moving to college in the fall....my budget is pretty tight and i'm not aiming for something big or expensive...but I cant even think of something little LOL

back when she was a child, she was in the hospital undergoing radiation and I remember sending her a small windchimes that she kept in her hospital room and really loved....she still talks about that sometimes

Maybe this is not what you´re looking for, but when I graduated HS my aunt gave me a copy of The Little Prince and wrote a beautiful dedication, and I truly loved it, actually it´s the only gift I remember getting (I´m sure I got a lot of other presents, but don´t remember them). Sometimes you need something meaningful rather than something expensive or “useful” specially since you´re going away!

I had a large HS graduation party. A bunch of extended family, neighbors, friends, etc showed up.

Someone got me a shower caddy with a bunch of nice shower gels and lotions in it. I think it was a gift pack of some sort. Anway I ended up taking that shower caddy with me to college and actually used it for the first 3 years that I spent in the dorms using communal showers. It was a great idea. You may be able to find a pre-assembled shower package or you could make your own.

If she can read even though legally blind, what about a game to take to the dorm with her? DD the younger is that age and she is thrilled to be able to take Cards against Humanity with her.

A dorm shower caddy is available on Amazon.

A nice set of pretty towels to take with her.

A really nice pen

A t-shirt from the school she'll be going to

Office supplies: tape dispenser, scissors, stapler

A label maker

Congrats to your graduating friend!

Money, no matter how much, is always appreciated by kids.

If you can't think of anything specific, cash is always appreciated! She'll be needing that more than anything else. But if you wanna go with something a bit more personal, then maybe create a gift basket for her and put different knick-knacks in that would be appropriate for someone going to college. That would be really appreciated and neat, too!

I think the small wind chime as well as college/dorm knick-knack gift basket is a great idea!

Last year I got my niece a really pretty Vera Bradley backpack/laptop holder thingie.

I'm not sure if students still use hotpots but I loved mine in college for things like tea, cocoa and soup. They are very inexpensive and don't take up much room.

A book (or audio book) along the lines of "The Naked Roommate" or "How to survive freshman year". If you get the nice towels have them monogrammed, maybe in school colors or mascot. One of those Vera Bradley id/cash wristlets are very popular with the college girls. They don't have to carry a purse and can have everything they need in one place. My girls use a carabiner clip to clip them on their belts. There are several styles/price points of these you can see on verabradley. com, just search on wristlet or id case.

Sounds like the perfect gift, especially after what she had gone through and still talks of the one you gave her when she was little
