Ibuprofen and weight gain?

I have been gobbling Advil Liquid Gels and Tylenol to reduce the pain from a tooth infection, and noticed a 3 pound gain in one day...:(

I rarely have any water gain. Has anyone else encountered this?

Yes... I've had this happen too... If you've got a some sort of tooth infection going on... than you've got some inflammation going on too... and that could definitely cause some fluid shifts in your body and some water retention...

Oh, and I hope when you say "gobbling" you're not taking more than the daily recommended amounts... you can damage your liver... So be careful with that stuff even if it is just OTC...

Oh yes. I had this last week. And I've had it before too, hanging onto an extra 4-5lbs while taking ibuprofen. Don't fret, it'll go away :)

I find this very interesting. I never knew that ibuprofen caused water weight gain.

I definitely second the advice to not exceed the recommended dosage because of possibly harming one's liver.

I think it was ibuprofen that I was told, also thins blood? I get nose bleeds and I thought I remember a health care professional saying to stay away from it because of it.

For My Roo,

I really hope that you get your tooth looked at! Infections are nothing to mess around with!

Thanks, the tooth is coming out on Tuesday :stress::
Spacing out the pain-killers by 4 hours, hopefully the antibiotics are effective before then.

I am SO glad I found this post! It explains A LOT.

I've been using ibuprofen a lot over the last few months as I've been having some pelvic cramps and have been getting a few headaches with stress and I was wondering why I was having such a huge problem with water retention. I thought it was all proper weight gain, rather than just water.
