Rest in peace, Gary (EZMONEY)

We are very sad to share with you that Gary, EZMONEY, has passed away. Gary joined our forum in 2002 and quickly became one of our better known and most supportive members. He inspired many of us first with his successful weight loss, then again with his brave battle with cancer. His strong faith was felt by many, and he will be missed by all. Our prayers and thoughts are with his family.

Edited to add: Gary's wife Angie posted a link to Relay for Life, which they have participated in for the last 3 years. If you would like to donate to it this year, Angie will be participating

Oh no :( I remember him. He was always so positive and seemed like an amazing grandfather, the way he spoke of his grandchildren. RIP.

So sad. He was such a sweet man. My thoughts go out to his wife and their family during this difficult time.

Very sad news. Gary had such a friendly spark that just leapt off the screen.

Condolences to his family.

Oh that's so sad to hear! I loved his posts. My heart goes out to his family.

Oh, Gary. How sad to hear this.

He was completely different from me in almost every way -philosophically, politically, spiritually. He and I had some rousing conversations about some of those things, here and on facebook.

That being said - he prayed for my MIL when she had her cancer, which made her happy. He sponsored 'online 5k' races that were a big part of what made me get up and run. I ran my first 5k distance at my park in one of his 'races' - I made a little sign for my shirt like a race bib and put his race name on it and everything. Ran it with the vision of EZ Money, Midwife and Photochick hot on my tail, came back here and reported my time. He even gave us rankings after we were all done. Once upon a time he gave me some good advice about dealing with XW and my stepson, and often popped in to ask me how things were going.

He loved his family, and his dogs. He was good to his employees, and he cared about people.

I didn't always agree with him, and argued with him as much as not, but I'll miss his presence. He was a good man. I liked him.

Angie - you and your family are in my thoughts.

Gary, you will be missed. Angie, take care.

Angie and the rest of Gary's family are in my prayers. I know he has gone on to a better place - which is a bittersweet celebration, and the only pain here is for his grieving family and friends. He will be missed! I will always appreciate the encouragement that he's given me over the years.

Rest in peace in the Kingdom of Heaven, friend!

Yes, Gary will be missed by so many. He was loved, and still is, by so many. He helped me when my Mom passed away and then again when my Dad passed away with so many kind words. When I had so many "troubles" with my son, he was always happy to listen and give advice--- and it always meant so much. I never was privileged enough to get to meet this wonderful man in person but feel he was a wonderful friend. Angie, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I am so sad to hear this news, even though it is not altogether a surprise. I hope Angie and the grandchildren will heal swiftly from losing such a strong and loving man. May their faith and love for each other guide them through these difficult times.

Keeping Gary and his family in my thoughts and prayers. I only recently "met" Gary in the last few months but what a caring, spiritual man he was. Rest in Peace, Gary.

Shannon, I remember those 5Ks, too. I think they were, what, 4 years ago? EZ was such a cheerleader for all of us, whether cheering and inspiring our running, or offering advice for how to deal with family issues.

He was a living example of caring for his family. His affection for the "kidnappers", aka sons-in-law and his grandchildren will never be forgotten.

As one of a minority of "roosters" here, he fit right in with all of us chicks. :)

How quickly the years fly by.....

Rest in peace, Gary.

RIP Gary. You will be missed. My heart is sad. Though I never met Gary, I considered him a true friend. Though we never met, he was a big supporter of my daughter's quest to get a service dog. He helped us financially and emotionally and was a frequent cheerleader for my daughter through her blog.

My thoughts and prayers remain with Angie, Gary's children, his grandchildren and the rest of the family.

A wonderful, wonderful man.... taken from us to soon. May you find peace with God.

I am so saddened to hear this, although I know Gary is at peace. Angie and the kiddos are in my prayers. Gary cared so much for this community and his presence will be missed!
