My Pit Bull and A Chicken....
I just have to share this. Last week, we lost our yorkie, Scooter, to a fast growing cancer. He has been my pit bull's best friend and my baby for seven years.
It has been really hard on me, and I have so many crying spells. It sucks. Libby is having a really hard time with him being gone. Her eating has drastically declined, and she will only eat if I feed her eggs or some other human food. On to the chicken: We hand raised 6 hens from just 2 days old. One of them has some kind of bone structure issue, and we named her "Boo boo." She has been a cuddle lap chicken since she was tiny. The other hens pick on her something terrible. Well today one of the other hens bullied her and she went and hid in the bushes. The bully followed her and began pecking at her, so she flapped over to me and snuggled herself between my legs as I sat on the back steps. She was so scared and sad. My pitbull, Libby came right up and began cleaning/loving on her. She wouldn't quit and I was telling her to "Quit lickin' the chicken" because Boo Boo was NOT at all happy with her attention. I finally had to put Libby inside because she wouldn't stop lickin' the chicken! I know Libby misses Scooter. I guess she needed to feel better comforting Boo Boo. (Or maybe she was doing a taste test! :D ) |
RavenWolf,
I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I have a furry little girl at home...I know I would be devastated if anything happened to her. I have to say, imagining a pit bull grooming a chicken is funny! |
What a cute story. It's so hard to be so sad when we lose a pet. And it's hard for everyone, even the other animals esp. Libby. So funny that Boo Boo couldn't deal with the loving, but so sad she gets picked on by the other hens. I'd never put her down! Poor baby.

I really wish I could have got it on video, it was sooo cute. But I knew if I got up to get my phone or video camera, the moment would be gone. I'm going to try and get pics of Libby and her chicken. LOL! (She freaks out at th sight of the camera a lot of times...silly dog!)
