Random question

Does your significant other know your current weight?

My hubby knows, I'm very vocal about my weight (especially since I've been losing.)

summerkate83 02-16-2013 01:21 PM

Mine does! I don't tell anyone else, but I do tell my hubby. He's not an obsessive weigher like me (I'm on the scale just about every morning), but he's currently weighing/trying to lose weight too, so sometime he tells me his weight too!

chubbiegurl 02-16-2013 01:22 PM

Yes I text him everyday while he is at work and tell him. Lol. He weighs on Saturday and tells me his progress too. I probably wouldn't have mentioned my weight before as much, but am super proud of myself.

celigirl88 02-16-2013 01:23 PM

Yes. He's with me at every weigh in. It doesn't really bother me since I've been with him so long and he's been on this roller coaster ride of losing weight with me. It feels nice to see somebody more happier than you when he sees the number on the scale went down.

I'm single atm but my ex knows what I weigh. My longtime crush knows but I doubt he remembers. I didn't tell anyone what I weighed when the figure was 181 though...

newleaf123 02-16-2013 01:49 PM

No. He knows how much I have lost, but not my actual number on the scale.

elvislover324 02-16-2013 01:55 PM

My husband doesn't know how much I weigh, just how much I've lost. I'm too embarrassed for him to know my starting weight.

But....I did tell him I will be shouting from the rooftops at 199 so I don't care if he does the math then. I don't think he really cares about the number anyways but I would tell him if he asked for some reason.

my husband doesn't know. but at my highest weight, he guessed that i was 50lbs. less then I was. So be it ... He never asks and I don't tell. I prefer to "Diet Quiet". It is less pressure for me that way. I suppose if I asked him to guess today he'd say a number less than what he weighs which is 195,(He's put on a couple lbs. this winter) yey! Since I've always been heavier than him ,when i actually do get to or below his weight, and I think it will be soon, I will let him know it, TOO! :carrot: It will be an extra incentive for me not to fall back. Good Luck to you all!

I'm in the same boat as you. Obviously he knows I am making the effort since I keep feeding him strange new things. I know he loves me no matter what I weigh, and I know that he wants me to healthy. It's a good system so far :)

mccull83 02-16-2013 08:05 PM

Yes my husband knows how much I weigh. I put it on our calendar online that then goes to both of our phones, that way I can look back and see how I'm progressing. He also asks me or watches me weigh in occasionally and then asks how I'm doing. (he doesn't care what I weigh, but likes to see me excited when it goes down)

Rana 02-17-2013 09:11 AM

Yes, he knows. But I don't know how much he weighs! He's overweight and very self-conscious about it, but I don't care if he is. But he won't share his actual number.

Em Coconut 02-18-2013 05:54 AM

My husband doesn't know. Nobody that I know IRL does. I don't mind sharing how much I've lost though. :)

XLMuffnTop 02-18-2013 09:16 AM

I haven't specifically shared my weight with my husband but I'm sure he knows. Maybe the scale was still displaying it when he walked in the bathroom or I had 3FC or MyFitnessPal or FitBit sites up. It's not a secret I'm withholding from him it's just not an active part of the conversation.

I haven't really shared how much I've lost either I've just asked general questions like "Is it showing?" and "Do I look different" because I can't tell.

That said, he weighed while I was brushing my teeth last week and he was upset because he'd only lost 13 pounds over the course of a month or so. Granted, he still ate a bunch of junk but likes our healthier meals together and with the kids. I told him it takes me months to lose 13 pounds and he was genuinely shocked.

beachluvr79 02-18-2013 09:21 AM

Yes, he knows. I tell him every week when I weigh in. He even knows my highest weight, even though we weren't together at that time.

Amy8888 02-18-2013 10:39 AM

I like to think he doesn't. It is the ONE secret I have in our relationship.

But I think he has a good idea. A couple years ago, he needed to turn in some paperwork for insurance. We were careful to have me fill out my info and put it in a sealed envelope for him to take to his HR person. It was all going well until the insurance agent called him one day to verify all the information, including my weight. The best laid plans...

Since then I got pregnant so I've put some weight on, and I'm about 10 lbs more than I was then. I know it doesn't matter, he sees me so it's not like I'm fooling anyone. But I just liked having that one little secret.

the shiv 02-18-2013 03:56 PM

Sure! I have been regailing the poor guy with stories of my weight loss adventure. He just keeps being happy for me, telling me I look thinner, and to be honest I don't think he has any idea what just under 200lbs even MEANS, since he's naturally lean with a super fast metabolism. It's like someone telling you they're a multi-billionaire. After a certain point, the number just makes absolutely no sense ;)

I did come in today hauling a rucksack full of shopping, and weighed it on the scale, and it was just more than what I've lost so far... That helped put it in perspective for him, he just said... "wow, you must feel SO much better!"

I love my lovely man :D

My husband knows--and I know his weight. I kept mine from him for a while (years ago) but right now, I'm realizing that keeping my weight secret is part of being ashamed of it--and that's not what I want to be.

So, DH knows, and DD the younger (17). We were having dinner the other night and she asked if she was allowed to ask/know. So I told her. (DD the older and DS are off at college.) The last thing I want is for DD to have body image issues beyond what any girl is exposed to in this world!

DH is also working on losing weight (although not as hard as I am) and we share our scale numbers every morning. He weighs two or three times a day--and can fluctuate 4 lbs in that time. I weigh in the morning only.

I debated even about putting my weight in my profile and ticker when I signed up for 3FC, but decided that it was a real part of my situation and progress--and having it there holds me more accountable.

My family will be thrilled if--no--WHEN--I am successful--they are all concerned about weight-related health issues I have.

elvislover324 02-18-2013 04:31 PM

I finally weigh what my husband weighed when I started this new life. We have been eating so healthy he went and lost 18lbs. Now he's just into one-derland (he doesn't even know what that means lol). He looks great and feels great so I am happy for him. I just can't wait to weigh less than him and I could have been there TODAY!

The only good thing is he doesn't have much more to lose (not that he's trying, grrrrr) so I *WILL* catch up and pass him, it's my mission now! But it's like chasing a moving target. Good exercise I guess!
