Lame.

I setup a phone interview with a recruiter for this morning. She has been wanting to speak to me for over a month now. We set the appointment earlier this week. I confirmed the time yesterday- and what happens when our appointment time rolls around today? No call.

Bah. Most likely I wont consider joining her company if this is how they treat candidates that they seek out.

Grumpy.

Anything lame coming up in your foreseeable future?

And rude. Sorry you had to start your day this way.

I approve of your picture.

Yeah, it sounds like so far they aren't the greatest...

Sorry Lunarsongbird, anyone who wastes my time ticks me off. And I am ticked off for you.

I hope you give her an earful when she does finally call.

It's her who is losing money by not calling you, I know you are the perfect candidate! Her loss.

So much Tard in this thread*...But yeah, I turned down another company trying to recruit me for the type of position I'm currently working in entirely because of how much I was hassled while trying to set up the interview over Skype. They probably do that type of thing to weed out people who aren't as serious about the position, but honestly if they're not giving you respect now it really doesn't give you any reason to believe that they'll treat you better in the future. Good luck in your search!

*For anyone who doesn't know, Tard is the name of the grumpy cat...I'm not trying to insult anyone's intelligence.

Recruiters have become the bane of my existence the last couple of years. I get calls and e-mails from fly-by-night body shops all the blasted time. I've learned to just ignore them. My first clue that a recruiter is not worth dealing with is when the contact is in broken English, doesn't match my skill set and immediately demands that I sign an agreement along with stating my salary requirements. Meh.

There are also a couple of big recruiting companies that I've dealt with in the past that I will no longer give the time of day now. I've also had the experience of missed appointments. Sorry, but that's a no go for me barring a legitimate reason other than "I forgot," or "I got busy."

The best jobs I've gotten in the past have been through my own personal network anyway, not through recruiters. I'm about done with all of them.

I know how you feel. I was looking to move to the west coast a few months back and found a company I really wanted to work for - or so I thought. I put in a resume, got a response within 24 hours, and tried to set up an interview. I was visiting my parents at the time so my cell phone couldn't receive signal. I told them literally about a dozen times to call my landline but they never did. They continually called my cell phone even after one woman supposedly jotted down the correct number.

Once I finally got an "interview" a month later, I was told that I'd have to fly to the west coast for an in-person interview without even knowing how much the position paid. So basically, I'd have to pay out the *** to travel 3000 miles at Christmas, at the last minute, for a position I may not be offered that may not cover living costs anyways.

I haven't called back.

So anyways, yeah, I agree, you dodged a bullet. When people can't get back to you like that, it's a sign of how the company as a whole is likely run - poorly!

lunar - did you ever end up hearing from here?

definitely frustrating to set a time and get blown off. And when you are currently working, it can take a bit of juggling to make sure you have free time and privacy for a call. Super rude to treat you as if your time had no value.
