I am reading several books: Just finished ICED by Karen Marie Moning; just finished Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet by Darynda Jones and no reading two more; Wheat Belly by William Davis M.D. and The Gamble by Kristen Ashley.
For those who haven't read Karen Marie Moning books, I very strongly recommend her Fever Series
I am reading Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingslover. She came to my town and did a book reading that we went to.
This is what I am reading right now as well. She is one of my favorite authors.
I live in Appalachia so think of her as mine, even if she's from Kentucky, of all places. Anyway, love her, but Prodigal Summer was the last of her novels that I read. I enjoyed pieces of it, but didn't love it. Have not read The Lacuna, [**wow, I'm dumb.] and was wondering about Flight Behavior. When y'all are done I would love to read your thoughts!
**I HAVE read The Lacuna. I feel ridiculous. I was just thinking about it last week and couldn't remember who wrote it or the title, but was remembering the story and main character. I loved it. Silly title. Anyway, liked Poisonwood Bible and the Lacuna immensely (and natch the early stuff with Turtle, the best kid ever), but Prodigal Summer not so much. So.

I am about halfway through Flight Behavior, and I am enjoying it. I don't know if I would say it is her best work ever, but I love her use of language, the characters are interesting, and the plot is engaging and unique. I would recommend it to others.
I'm really enjoying Culinary Intelligence by Peter Kaminsky as my current nonfiction selection. Part memoir, part diet book, mostly just good writing by a food critic about adopting a way of eating that maximizes Flavor per Calorie.
For my fun read, I've got The Search by Nora Roberts. Was someone here reading that last month? I'm really enjoying it. I used to have a fantasy about working with a search and rescue dog until I realized that being allergic to dogs made that a tad unrealistic. Reading about dogs doesn't make sneeze, though!
I know I'm in the minority on this, but I'm hit or miss on Irving's novels. I've read 3. Last Night in Twisted River, A Prayer for Owen Meany and The World According to Garp. I read Garp when I was in High School and enjoyed that one. My mother in law (when I was still dating hubby) gave me Twisted River, and I thought it was ok. But I hated Owen Meany. I know a lot of people will be shocked by this, it is probably his "most loved" character, but I had to struggle to finish it.
We like what we like. I liked " A Prayer For Owen Meany" but no means was it my fave. I would rate " A Son of the Circus" as my favourite and "Cider House Rules" and " A Widow for One Year" as runner ups.
Oh how I miss reading! I have not read anything in months and am very sad about that, other than school books that is! But I have two projects an school is over for a month so reading and exercising here I come! I can't wait to pick up a book again!
Still reading Madman's Tale, but Gone Girl came in the mail yesterday and I've been having a hard time putting it down. I already have family members wanting to borrow it.
So I found this fabulously stupid and easy to read paranormal romance series called Real Vampires Have Curves (goes on from there), but it's about a size 14 vampire and her men and escapades.
It's seriously ridiculous, lighthearted and a good bathtub read
My reading is getting lighter and lighter this month.
I finished The Search by Nora Roberts. Fun. The ending isn't realistic, but the reader doesn't really care at that point. It's gotta end that way, so I just went along for the ride.
Now, I'm reading a YA steam punk novel: Goliath by Scott Westerfeld. It's the last book in a fun trilogy set in a re-imagined World War I.
I'm not sure what I'm going to read next if I want something even more light and fun!
I'm reading Elly in Bloom. She's an overweight girl in her early 30s who got divorced after she found hubby in bed with a skinny redhead! She's a florist, and she talks about her weight a lot. It's a really good read so far! I'm usually not into fiction too much unless it's mystery or sci-fi, but I like something nice and light for the holidays. I'm not disappointed!
