I bought a wii! Game suggestions?
After thinking about it for ages, I finally decided to treat myself and get a Wii. The one I got comes with Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort.
What other games should I think about getting? I read good things about My Fitness Coach, Gold's Gym Cardio Workout, and EA Sports Active. But I know it can't fully replace some good old fashioned gym time. Which is why I'd love suggestions on other games too! :) I really like the Sims, so I have my eye on The Sims 2 Castaway (it's an older game) and probably the Sims Pets. |
I love the Harvest Moon games on the wii! Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is fun too (and a workout for the arms lol). I bought the zumba for the wii in a moment of ambition but haven't played it when I thought of how annoying it would be for my downstairs neighbor lol.

I've been using Biggest Loser Challenge for almost 2 years now and really like it.
I was able to start with on easy for a short time and gradually work my way up the challenging workouts for a longer time. |
I just started using my wii for working out too! I use the wii active personal trainer and the more workouts. I know it sounds silly but I really put my all into working out on it. I made my own workouts with them for arms, legs and abs. I try to focus on using the right muscles even though I feel a bit goofy being all serious with a video game trainer, lol. But better moving with a game than not moving at all I say!!

I liked wii fit plus and Gold's Gym the best out of the fitness games.:)
|
I like Wii Fit okay. But, I feel like I get a better work out from the dance games. I'd recommend anything from the Just Dance series (there are 4 of them now plus a summer dance and kids dance version) I like Wii Zumba, too.
|
The Zumba games did look fun....and I've played Just Dance before! Maybe I'll look into those. I do want to be mindful of my neighbors below me and try not to jump around too much. :)
|
I have this one called Outdoor Challenge, it's super fun. Although I do think my fave is the Sports Resort! I have the Wii Fit. It's fun too. I'd love to get one of the dancing ones!! Those look awesome!

My Fitness Coach isn't really a game. It's basically an exercise video with lots of variation, you'll never have the exact same exercise routine. I like it, she talks a lot and repeats those stupid comments, "hold on, let me find the beat" We're stretching, we don't need to find the beat.
I have several, Gold's Gym Cardio is basically boxing. Wii Fit plus is ok, there are some good exercises, but it's annoying to always have to pick your exercise and get it set up. You can make a program and do a series of exercises but when you do that you don't get a score for each exercise. The dance games are fun, I want to get zumba eventually. |
There is another one called Country Dance (1 +2) some of the songs are a little cheesy IMO. But, it is similar to Just Dance only at a little slower pace. Maybe it wouldn't wake the downstairs neighbors? One I have seen recommended a lot is Walk it Out. Probably have to get it used or on ebay since it has been out for a while.

If you can find it, Okama is an amazing game for the wii. It's not an exercise game or anything, just absolutely gorgeous.

I realized that this morning and was just about to edit it!

Just Dance is my absolute favorite. I love that any age has fun playing it, including my daughter, me, my friends, and my parents.

Thank you for everyone's recommendations. Please keep the suggestions coming if you think of others. Though I'm not very good at them, I might get some sort of zombie/shooting game too.... |

Best advice I can give you though is do not give up if you don't get those shooting games right away. They take practice and you're only instantly good at that genre if you've been playing it for a while. Not sure where you're at in your gaming journey but I've seen too many women get interested in a game and give up after the first week because they just don't get it. It makes me very sad... That hand eye coordination takes practice. |

PC wise, I used to play WoW and I've played the sims a ton. And Roller-coaster Tycoon. But I haven't played on a game system much in years. I think I gravitate toward games where I take care of people/characters. |

Enjoy your Wii!! |
Thanks! I go into nurture mode on RCT too. When the people are all green I'll put them in a little separate path area until they're better. And if they run out of money but they're hungry, I'll set up some booths in that area that are free. I spoil my little characters. :)

There's one Walk it out. It's fun. it might be easily found at game trader as a used copy. it's interactive too.

The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword is a pretty awesome game. Super Mario Galaxy was pretty fun too. Rayman Raving Rabbids is a really silly game that'll make you laugh a lot!
Do you have friends/kids to play with? Super Smash Bros. Brawl is a game me and my friends have literally spent hours on hours on. And then Mario Kart, of course. There's also New Super Mario Bros. Wii which can be played alone, but it's also two-player and I played with my mom through the whole game. The Wii was alright overall, but I'm more into the older stuff, like the SNES and N64. |
