I can find the beauty in all seasons, but fall is my fav!
  • I love going apple picking and going to apple orchards.
  • I love watching the leaves change colors and fall to the ground.
  • My bday, my bf's bday and our anniversary are all in the fall.
  • Halloween is my fav. holiday.
  • Fall fashion is my favorite (light jackets, fashion boots etc)
  • NFL and college football
Those are just a few things, but I LOVE the fall!

I love autumn. The smell of apple cider and the gorgeous colors of leaves and pumpkins. The cool breezes and warm fires. The coziness of slipping into a sweater and the comfort of an extra quilt on the bed. It's my favorite time of year.

-I love the tang in the air- I don't know how to describe it- It's sort of a sour smell but really pleasant.
-I love the brisk feeling of the air.
-I love that it's cold enough to wear sweaters again and I don't overheat.
-I love snowmobiling! We try to get out at least 2 weekends a month.
-I enjoy snowshoeing.

Autumn and winter are my favourite seasons! Autumn more than winter simply because you can get out and do more without worrying about the weather. I'm big into nature, it is a free art gallery as far as I'm concerned. Some of my favourite things about Autumn are:

--walking my dogs in the brisk evening air, just before dinner when the sun is setting and turning everything golden. My dogs wag their tales just a little harder and more jauntily when we're in the golden autumn sun.

-- holidays! Some of the best food holidays are in Autumn and my creative muscles get all stretched and excited because I try to re-create high-calorie holiday favourites in a low-cal way. So awesome!

--wearing hoodies and jeans and sweaters again!

--both hockey and football start in Autumn...my two favourite sports, what could be better?! (we'll just pretend the NHL lockout isn't happening right now...)

--crunching leaves and having competitions to see who can get the loudest crunch out of a leaf.

--exercising and not sweating like a pig. It's the reason I hate Spring and Summer. I hate the heat! It's just too much for me!

Things I like about fall (my favorite season!):

It finally cools off and the bugs go away (more or less). The crispness in the air is refreshing.
Having the chance to wear long shirts and outerwear.
Good weather for hiking and working outside.
Having the opportunity to participate in the socializing that surrounds high school and college football. The latter, in particular, is a ridiculously big deal here.
It's the height of the election season! Woohoo! *throws handfuls of twinkie dust in the air*
I find the light and the changes in the plants particularly beautiful.
It's the season for a big annual event at a historic site I volunteer at.
Halloween and Thanksgiving. Fall/harvest festivals, too!
The feeling of being active and productive outside, then coming in to a nice warm house to put on comfy clothes and relax.

Things I like about winter:

I've always thought that winter is a beautiful season, in its way, whether I'm experiencing it in the southeastern US, the Upper Midwest, or the North of England. Especially when the sun shines.
In my current location, it's great weather for doing outdoor activities in.
Christmas, Hannukah, New Year's. Good opportunities for family time (for me).
During winter I feel more of an incentive to cook hot dishes and try new, healthy foods than I do in the summer. Not that my eating is bad during the summer, I just never get around to making any of the chilled soups and wraps and whatnot that I always tell myself I'll try.

The start of the new theatre season here on Broadway...

Going to the opera at the Met...

Going for walks out in the woods up in the Hudson Valley...

Halloween because it's also my Mom's birthday too...

The holidays... I love Thanksgiving... and look forward to Christmas...

I love the lighting of the tree in Rockefeller Center and the windows at Sak's...

Ice skating in Central Park and going skiing up in Vermont...

And of course... getting out of the city in the dead of winter and heading down to Palm Beach to just relax by the beach...

So lots to look forward to... and lots to love...

I love autumn, because it is cool enough to wear a sweater and I love sweaters. I love brand new sweatshirts that are all soft and fuzzy inside and this is a good time to wear them.

I, too, love the fall colors and the briskness in the air.

The part about winter I love is the snow (back home). When the sun comes out, the snow sparkles like diamonds on the grass. And winter is the time for bugs to go into hiding or die off. It is a cleansing feeling for me in regard to the bugs.

I must say, I'm not a fan of winter here because it just gets colder and super windy and occasionally we get a really nasty ice storm and some snow. Fall drives me crazy because it's hot, then cold, then hot, then cold, for WEEKS on end. 90 one day then 70 the next, seriously. Sorry, I'm not helping, lets see here....

I DO like winter because:
My electric bill is lower
My husband doesn't sweat profusely in our bed every night... yuck.
I like apple cider and hot chocolate but unfortunately the good kinds have lots and lots of calories.
I like watching my kids dress up and go trick or treating.

I loathe Christmas though so after Thanksgiving the "season" is all downhill for me! I just want a locale that's 60-75 degrees day and night year 'round and isn't in a bubble. Is that too much to ask for?
