I previously mentioned about a road trip my mom and I are taking to see my sister in Louisiana that's coming up in two weeks. We are planning to stay one day in San Antonio, Texas. So far we plan to see The Alamo and walk the River Walk, but is there anything else that's a "must see or do" while were there? I'm super excited about the road trip, we're also planning to stop in Phoenix Arizona, and Fort Stockton during the trip, but San Antonio is going to be our rest day, so any suggestions of what else to do would be great

There is the Tower of America, which is cool. It was built for the World's Fair. There is an interesting outdoor Mexican market.

I will preface this by saying I have never been to San Antonio however I had a friend go there last year and everyone told her she had to go to the river walk. After going she said it was one of the best parts of the trip (granted she was there for work so I don't know how much fun, touristy type stuff they got to do).

If you have time, Austin is an hour and a half away by car It is a fun city, with a lot of good food and a hippie vibe. You can see the capital, the UT campus, kayak on the lake, see the bats under the Congress Avenue bridge, and watch the sunset over the hills at the Oasis restaurant.

@WildThings- The River Walk is one thing we will deffinently do, I'm looking forward to walking it, especially since by the time we reach SA we will have driven for 3 days, I heard it's a nice shopping center too, which I hope I'll have some spare cash to do a little clothes shopping while we're there

@fFitinTx- I'll have to bring up Austin with my mom, we're only going to be in the area for one day/night but 1 1/2 hrs away doesn't sound to far out of our way, so maybe i'll talk her into seeing if we can make time to tour both cities.
