If you're serious about getting your hair cut short like that, you might want to take the time and visit a wig shop. Try on wigs with short hair and really see what it would look like on you.

That is such a good idea!!!

It's funny, because I just watched a clip from the Wendy Williams show where she was talking to a plus size actress (I forget who), and they were both saying, "The bigger the hair, the smaller the hips!" Basically, that long or big hair gives the illusion that your body is smaller. I agree with the idea that you should go to a wig shop to try on short wigs. I tend to think that when you are on a weight loss journey you shouldn't make any drastic changes to your appearance until closer to the end. I know not everyone feels this way, but you could look so drastically different at your goal weight, that you might want your long hair back or your original color. Then again, you might decide on the a blonde pixie cut. Think of yourself in transition at this point. That's my advice.

I'd say keep it long.

If you do it stay brown and get low-lights or something. It's a cute haircut but that's going to be a PITA and expensive to maintain. Every two weeks you're going to have dark roots showing. I did blonde before and now I'm black but my hair is very long. Much easier.

@Miko: No, I tried to find it in a colour similar to mine but couldn't. :( Thank you!
@ghost: Thanks for the advice! I am too scared to get my eyebrows done because I think it hurts :(
@Vex: No, I am keeping my original brunette colour. Just the haircut is what I am looking at!
@Fatbookworm: I'm sorry to hear about the chemo! I was thinking about donating my hair to Locks of Love, but I'm not sure it's long enough. I'm glad you're ok now though!
@carbstart: congratulations on your wedding!
@krampus: I'm not really sure how someone should dress to compliment a short hair cut? Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks to everyone for your advice and suggestions. :)

I think that quote from the Wendy Williams show is taken seriously out of context. Were they talking about Bumpits?

I'm also not on a weightloss journey, I've been the same weight for a really long time and haven't really dedicated myself to the task of losing weight. Sure, I've thought about it and made a few very feeble attempts, but nothing serious. I am overweight, but I am very healthy - I eat healthy, I bike for 1.5 hours a day on weekdays, and I have an active career. My weight isn't going to change much in the next little while.

Thank you, though :)

Ok, so I went to the hairdresser today to get my hair cut in that style, and they said that I should do it because I have a cowlick and that my bangs would be out of control unless I straighten/blow dry it every single morning. I'm wasn't really willing to do that, so I told them I would just get a trim and maybe get the haircut another time or something. So they trimmed my hair... And the layers I asked for are non-existant on the right side and feathered on the left. So annoying. I can't wear this down.

So I told them I wanted to see how bangs would look on me with my cowlick, because I wanted to see how out of control they would be, and if they didn't work out, I could just use a bobby pin and pin them up. Well.. The hairdresser cut my bangs really, really short, so they really have no chance of being in control, and I couldn't get the hair cut that I wanted because my bangs were too short to even try.

So now I have uneven hair and terrible bangs. I would rather have just had to short cut. I'm not worried, though. My hair will grow.

AdotJ - Sorry the haircut didn't turn out the way you'd hoped! However, you are right that it will grow back quickly.

No, they weren't talking about Bumpits. Basically they were talking about about what kinds of styles and clothing look good on plus size women. The actress's name is Marissa Jaret Winokur (she's a calorie counter and has lost 25lbs). Here is the link to the interview clip -

My former advice doesn't really apply to you, because I assumed you were on a weight loss journey. My bad! Go for whatever makes you feel good!

Yes, I think that it will look lovely! :) When it comes to cutting hair, it is best to try and find a style that flatters your bone structure. Either way, the worst case senerio, just grow it out again :)

I'm obese and I just hacked off hair to pixie.

I get a lot of comps on it -- but you have to be bold enough to pull it off, and change the earrings to drops instead of studs and all that to balance the look.

I tend to do in summer because of the heat.

I say go for it -- it's only hair. It grows back.

A.

I think it would look good with your face. Go to a good stylist and they can see what would be best as well. So, I say, YES.
