Fruit flies RAGE
 

OK less gross than house flies, but still these things have invaded. I think its because my roommate brought in fruit and put it on a plate out in the open - I stick my stuff straight in the fridge. She put it away but the invasion has begun and they are ANNOYING. I clean up but those little things I think can survive on the smallest crumb.
I just stick a fan near my face for now. I hear that a rue plant can deter them but I need to look for a place that sells those.

If you have any wine in the house, put a little in a deep glass near the invasion. The flies are drawn to the fruit smell but get too drunk to fly out of the glass :)

The wine trick works and you can get an electric fly swatter and have at it. :D

I've heard of the ACV (with a bit of sugar?) trick with tape underneath so less flies get out.

I don't keep anything out but I've seen a few in my kitchen! Ugh.
