Making a marriage work

My wife wanted a cat. I didn't want a cat. So we compromised and we got a cat. :stars:

My husband posted this earlier and I found it hilarious.

My husband never knew he loved cats until he moved in w kitties and me!

LOL your husband is funny :)

My fiance and I agree on just about everything...EXCEPT what PETS we're going to have when we're living together. Kids, where to live, etc. but not the PETS.

He wants a cat. Fine, we will get a cat. I want a dog so we're getting one of those too. He wanted to choose the breed but I vetoed that because I want to choose the breed (or at least get some terrier mix that doesn't shed, I'm allergic to random breeds of dog but not cats) but he keeps whining that he wants a "mushy face dog." Too bad

LOL. My DH "compromises" in a similar fashion. If he had his way, we'd have no pets and white carpets. But he knew I loved pets when he got with me, and at the time he had a dog and a cat of his own. We have two cats and two dogs (one dog is the one he had when we got together- she's still going strong!) and probably always will. But I compromise with him on his boats, and fishing and other "man stuff" he wants. :)

This sums up my husband's and my situation too. One of my cats is now more attached to him, than she is to me, though if I go out without him, she'll cry for me.

A deal-breaker for me would be someone that needs a pet in our home. It would never work. I don't "do" animals. :(

Yeah, that's pretty much how marriage works. It helps if it isn't always the same person "compromising".

Somehow we ended up with three animals and (which makes it super hard to find a place to rent!): my dog, his cat and his ex's cat. I didn't really want the ex's cat but what can you do? Cat needs a home.

I couldn't live without my animals. (I'm a vet assistant) I'm really glad Mack grew up in a home with like 5 cats and 2 dogs at all times. hah. We're looking at adopting a companion for Pepper. He didn't want another, but we're getting one. I told him he'll just have to deal because it's my money I'm spending on everything for them. He met Beowulf and now really wants to bring him home too. :D

I have always been a dog person and so is hubby. Then the cutest little kitty wandered into our yard a couple of years ago and hubby wanted to keep her. She was obviously dumped because of the state she was in. I didn't want to keep her but he was smitten.

So I told him it's his responsibility to clean her little tray. And now I love that damn cat..........

Growing up we never had a dog in the house. Animals belonged outside. I married a dog person and comprimised by not allowing them in the bedroom. 15 years later I am sleeping with 3 dogs.
