The last time I lost a large amount of weight, I went from 245 to 180. I was talking to two of my close (male) friends about it, and asked them to guess what I weighed when I started. They both genuinely thought I'd been at 160-170 (before losing all the weight). After losing 65 pounds I was at 180! I said to them "Do you think I weigh 105-110 pounds right now??!!" LOL.
i think that people have this conception of what a woman over 200 pounds looks like. They think all women who are over that weight look like some sort of blob and dont realize that many of them maintain their curves in spite of the weight. My, now ex, boyfriend found out I didnt qualify for affordable insurance because of my weight and said "well if you dont qualify then hardly any girl would". He has no clue that I am almost 300 pounds. He thinks I am the norm?! However, in the same conversation he will go off about "subsidizing the healthcare of the fat lazy person who wont get off the couch" if the insurance mandate goes into effect. I keep wondering "um...who do you think you are talking too, again?"
This is such a funny thread. Men rarely have a clue. 3 X-masīs ago my DH bought me a bra and panties in a 32b and small size. He couldnt understand why I laughed as the bra only covered 1 boob when I held it up. I wear a 36dd. To make it funnier, last christmas he did the same thing!! Hello?!?!
Men who aren't trainers or realistic think all women weigh 120 pounds no matter what. 140 is the cutoff for "fat" even though there are a lot of women who are THIN at 140. When I was 130-135 I said I was 125-130.
It's all stupid! But I'm TERRIBLE at telling how much men weigh, so there we go.
Just thought of this and had to come back and share.
When my mom and dad first got married he bought her a pair of jeans for her birthday. My mom is 5'2" and at that time maybe 105 lbs. He bought her a size 18. He figured since he wore a 36 in pants and she was half his size that she wore an 18. LOL! So funny.

I have always been told I carry my weight really well (thank you height.) So, yes, this has happened to me numerous times. Very few people know my weight, however, but when conversations brew and they say something like "like Elaina, she probably is only a buck 60...or something like that" I just smile and shrug.
When we go to the water parks, there's always that awkward moment when going down a big slide on a two-person tube...the lifeguards will say "okay, now the heaviest in the front"...whether it's me and a friend or my boyfriend and I...it's a horrible, awkward moment. It is nice when the friend/boyfriend take the initiative and say "oh that's definitely me"
When you consider that men think we weigh less, and women think they weigh more than they do, why are we surprised there is such a disparity between the two?
I think it's great that men think we look smaller or weigh less than we do; I'd take it as a compliment and let it be.
Plus, I think that some women don't see themselves for how they truly look. They look healthy and well and normal weight to most people looking at them; it's just too bad they can't see it themselves.

Well, my boyfriend has never said anything cute. But one time I asked him what his ideal number is for me to weigh, and he said "120". And I thought 130 was kind of pushing it.
My DH acts shocked every time he asks, and I tell him, what I weigh. He thinks I weigh about 20 lbs less than I do. Granted he has not asked me very many times, but still, you'd think he could remember. He knows better than to buy me clothes because I'm picky about styles and fit. Stephanie, I love your story about your dad! lol! That is so typical of a man!
I told my fiance how much I weighed finally, well...maybe fuzzying it by a few lbs to make it a round, but smaller, number. He couldn't believe that I was over 200lbs, no way no how. He said I was fibbing.
It was actually quite difficult for me to fess up to him, more than anyone, how much I weighed. I thankfully carry my weight really well and can still shop at regular stores for clothes, so it's not difficult to keep up a ruse of being much lighter than I really am.
When I was at my heaviest I used to tell people I was 160 and they believed me! Men or women!
I had one guy pick me up at work and he said "whoa you're heavy, you must weigh at least 140!" ......... ARE YA F**KIN KIDDING ME?!?! lolllllll!!!!
Even to this day, people don't believe I ever was 220 although it clearly showed to me, and when I tell them I'm 144 now, they say "NO! I don't give you a lb over 120!"
