Asbestosis?
 

Does anyone have any personal experience with a friend or family member being diagnosed with asbestosis or mesothelioma?

From what I've read, the prognosis is not good, but then someone mentioned a person who was diagnosed with asbestosis and lived another 15 years (he's still alive now).

Hmmm, funny you should post this at this time ... a former co-worker of my DH's delivered our deck wood on Monday, and he was telling us about his sister who was diagnosed with Mesothelioma too. I don't know how long she had lived with it overall, but sadly, she passed away (she lived another 3 years after she finally got a definitive diagnosis). He lost both his Dad (from cancer) and his sister in the same year -- that's why he mentioned it.

We had been to the place where her exposure had taken place on our honeymoon over 23 years ago. Sorry to tell you that, but she was the only case I know of personally. I'd bet there must be some people who have lived a long while with it too though becuz it would probably depend on how much exposure they had, and for how long, and how well their body handled it too ... :hug:
