I'm trying to find a surprise block
My friend, whom I met on here, is moving to a bigger place and she is getting back into this addiction called quilting. Since she is part Native American, I thought I'd try and find a quilt block that honors the "Trail of Tears" or one from her tribe, Chickasaw. I thought we would work on the block together and raid my stash for starters.
I contacted the Cherokee society regarding the "Trail of Tears" but they had nothing. I haven't heard back from someone from the Chickasaw tribe. I've posted on the Quilt in a Day, Fons and Porter and Alex Anderson's sites. I haven't heard back from any of them either. I've looked all over the web as well. Any suggestions? I did a search on her name and found she hasn't been in here very much so I'm hoping she won't see this post. She never hung out in General Chatter anyway but one never knows. |
this one?

I can't help with the block, but it reminded me of a song called Trail of Tears that I love. I suppose if you like the lyrics, you could turn them into a block. John Denver sings it but I don't know who wrote it. It is on You Tube if you want to listen to it--someone put it there with some great artwork.....it's a powerful song and can bring tears. Let us know what you find.
