A good make-up for really sensitive skin??
 

I have always had allergies and itchy skin. I'm having trouble finding a good make up foundation that will not break out my skin. I have been using the covergirl simply ageless for a couple of years now- and it does not break me out- but I turned 50 this month and I want to change to a more sheer make up. I like the covergirl except it is kinda heavy. And I am finding as I age ~less is more~. I use the sponge it comes with and wet it- if I use it dry it looks even more heavy.
I tried Almay smart shade anti-aging base. I moisturized first before applying then I used the Almay with a wet sponge. I loved the sheer look and it felt so light and good...but by night I was broke out all over my face. I'm wondering now if it was the makeup itself, the pre- moisturizing, or the wet sponge??
I have looked at so many different kinds of make up- I'm a little confused which one to go with. It took me a week to clear up the last break out. Twice burned you fear the flame.

I recommend mineral makeup. The two brands I'm familiar with are Everyday Minerals and Silk Naturals. They both have generous samples of their products you could try. With Silk Naturals, you blend your own foundation color. If you have trouble with this, they have a forum where you could post a picture and be given a ratio for your mixture. Another makeup company I've heard good things about is Alima. It seems that they also have generous samples of their foundations.

If you prefer liquid foundation, some mineral makeup makers on etsy have them. I'm not familiar with any of them, but I would love to give ErzulieCosmetics a try.

If you prefer something that you can buy at a drugstore, I've heard good things about Physician's Formula.

Finally, when looking at mineral makeup, the most important thing to look out for and avoid if you have sensitive skin is Bismuth Oxychloride. I've tried mineral makeup that had that ingredient and had angry itchy skin as a result. Avoid! Good luck! ;)

Why not try a tinted moisturizer? I use Either Aveeno or Dr. Jart Water Based BB Beauty Balm. Both are very light. I like both of them.

I have very sensitive skin and a lot of makeups (Mac, Christian Dior, Clinique, etc.) I tried made me break out. I saw an infomercial about Bare Minerals a few years back and I love the way it a,kes my face looks and feel. It does not make me break out at all. What I love most about it is that it lasts a long time. The last time I purchased foundation was about 11-12 months ago. Less is more with bare minerals. If you have an Ulta in your area they let you try the makeup on before you buy or you can buy and try and return with no questions asked.

I find that when I use a Bare Minerals product, after it is on my skin awhile, it seems to make my pores seem larger.

Other than that I love their products.

Thank you all so much for the advice. I did try the bare minerals one time but it did break me out. I don't think it was the makeup though- I think it was the bristles on the kabuki brush?? After my face broke out I was scared to try it with another applicator. Once I break out- in the drawer of all the used once foundations it goes.
I like the tinted moisturizer idea, and I love aveeno products...so I may give this a try. Also you would think Physicians formula is hypo allergenic?
I feel like a test dummy.
