Well I ended up putting together a dark priestess costume and was pretty proud of myself! I normaly don't wait till the last minute but with school, getting engaged, kids etc...I got behind. I've already mentally started what I'm making next year! Oh and BTW that Mad Hatter costume was awesome!

I am making my costume this year. I had been a witch 2 years in a row.(I changed jobs and could get away with the same costume for 2 years) This year, I am going as the tooth fairy. I am modifying one of my " fat" dresses with an apron I am making and doing a crown.
As people who are changing weight, we should have a few old clothes on hand we can modify and add things to for great halloween costumes. Going shopping in your own closet is a great place to start for a costume. You can finish it off at the thrift store or a few accessories from a costume store.

I'm going as Queen Bee this year.

It's not overly slutty, and I'll be wearing black leggings and black flats, not heels and thigh highs. And I'm getting a tiara, too

But I do agree, some costumes out there are just so slutty and if I had the sewing skills, I would have made my own. But, then again, the material is expensive so, six in one/half dozen in the other I guess.

I love that Mad Hatter costume!

Costumes, I have to agree, are really quite slutty and usually not for those who have any extra fat at all. I always find myself making a costume(I sew corsets in my spare time.) not just because they are too slutty but because they are made really poorly as well and I don't want to pay that much for something that might not last through the night.

That is a great idea!! You have got me thinking now for next since I WILL be smaller and I got a bridesmaid dress somewhere :D

Rainbowgirl That is a great costume! It's very sexy but classy! Love it.

Gaarasslave I LOVE corsets! That is a great talent to have. I have always wanted one made just for me.

I just bought this halloween costume:

http://www.buycostumes.com/Miranda-R...uctDetail.aspx

And I bought it in a size medium. The skirt of the Large fell off my hips, but the top runs a little tight. I'm going to sew on the 2 pieces together, and I'm going to wear short shorts and cute stylish tights under.

My freaking bum is showing if I don't.

I don't know who they make these costumes for. I personally don't like my bum cheeks showing. LOL

But I had to get a cop costume since My fiance is going as a prisonner. LOL I just thought this was the least skanky one. OH !! and it comes with leggings too :) So thats much easier :)

My fiance went as a prisoner too! How easy do men have it for costumes?? I tried to find a cop one but my bum and lots of my other goodies would have spilled out and it would have been all bad :o I think your costume looks cute and hope you all have a great time!

My easiest costume was a piece of white poster board, cut into an oval. I cut out a yellow circle & glued it to the center. Then I punched holes in the top & ran a ribbon through so it would go around my neck. I wore devil horns & carried a trident. I was a Deviled Egg.

Seriously took 10 minutes to make & I got a lot of compliments.

Thanks hun!! I hope you have a great time too!! :)

And the worst part is, my fiance's costume is a one-size fits all!!!

It's ridiculous.
It looked good on me, and it looks good on him.

How unfair is that! LOL

OMG, I LOVE the candy corn costume! And I would so do the slutty costume if I were just a few pounds smaller.

I'll try to get a picture of the entire family as we are all going as characters from Toy Story, but here are a couple snapped of DH and me at an event yesterday:

This is why making up your own costume is way more better.

One year, I wore an old lacey wedding-look type dress & did my face up zombie-ish... I was the dead bride.

One year, I was little "dead" riding hood... sexy, no? NO. I had on a black leotard & a long red cape, & again with the ghoulish face.... big raking "red marks" all across my neck, etc. "The wolf got me."

Then one year, I was a "swiss maiden" - sexy? Uh, no. The dress was knee length, and very "puffy" ... my hair in braids, think... "ricolaaaahhhhhh" Heh. :D

People get lazy & buy from a store, when really, a homemade costume is just far more artsy and you can be anything you want.
