"Vanity Items" to Buy During Weight Loss?
 

I love shopping :D and hate to think about how I "have to" wait until I'm at my goal weight until I can purchase expensive clothing. So I was thinking, what else can be bought to appeal to a person's vanity while losing weight? Purses, shoes, accessories (necklaces, earrings, bracelets, etc), makeup, hair dye and nail polish. Anything I'm missing? ;)

What all have you bought or done for yourself?

Atm I've only gotten a dramatically different haircut, dyed my hair and bought some new makeup. It made a world of a difference.

A good perfume! I agree on the nail polish, small detail that makes a lot of difference in how I feel, I also suggest finding a great lipstick color.

Ha, I have a date with the Coach outlet when I get under my lowest adult weight. ;)

I can't think of anything else material- but what about a massage or a facial?

I don't know how much you have to lose, but you might want to be careful with the shoes. I have gone down about 2 shoe sizes.

Why not also go to thrift stores and pick up cute clothes along the way too? Also, once you get close to your goal you could pick up a few nice things and just plan to have them altered when you reach your goal.

Oh, and one thing I really want soon? A nice fluffy bathrobe!!!

I've been buying more makeup and nail polish lately. I have bought some new clothes too, though - my 50 pounds ago clothes are ridiculously big! :D So far everything has been from the clearance rack or a secondhand store, so I'm not breaking the bank on my temporary wardrobe. Just today I got a v-neck thsirt and khaki capris at Boscov's for 12 dollars - TOTAL!

I treated myself to a teeny tiny tube of Kate Somervile Exfolikate, too. I love skincare treats, too.

I LOVE headbands... not the plastic ones but the cloth pattern ones. I think they can make an otherwise drab outfit come to life. And they are cheap!

in the past year i have really gotten into make up. i never use to wear a full face of make up out but nowadays i feel naked without make up. im obessed with make up now.

i think for me i got tired of going clothes shopping and not being able to find my size. where i live there aren't many plus size clothing stores. so make up is one size fits all.

I thought it would be a good idea to get a couple nice staple items that will still look good as I shrink.

Believe me, I am not a high roller dresser by any stretch of the imagination, but last night I bought a really cute top that doesn't look horrible on me now, but the first thing I thought was how wonderful it would look in another 15lb.

My vanity items were decent workout clothes for the gym. I bought then with a drawstring, so they would last a bit longer, but I refused to wear old t-shirts and crappy shorts to the gym, so I invested quite a bit in dri-fit shirts and skorts. they were also my staple summer wardrobe too. I bought them in April when I weighed 222 pounds and I'm still wearing them (though they are beginning to gather at the waist with the drawstring pulling in the extra fabric) at 186 pounds.

So, my vanity clothing item was actually quite economical in the end as I was able to wear them for 36 pounds and I will be able to continue to wear them for at least another 10 pounds. No other clothes in my wardrobe have been able to do that.

And I will continue to get decent workout clothes - way more comfortable than cotton shirts.

Workout clothes are a great idea, but I've had problems finding good ones in my size. :(
