Teaching in Asia when you've had a mental illness.
 

I would like to teach in Asia but I was on medication for a mental illness. How will that impact my desire to teach in Asia? Thanks in advance.

P.S. I am off meds as off today, per doctor's orders. I will check the posts since this one on Friday of next week when I'll have computer access.

I taught in China from 2004-08. As part of my work visa/residence permit application, I had to affirm that I had never been diagnosed with a mental illness. My information is slightly old, as you can see, but if I had to guess I'd say the Chinese government hasn't changed that policy.

There are others here on 3FC who have taught in other countries, so hopefully they'll chime in.
