I always recommend that someone new to the AC series should start with the first game. If not the first (because the controls really bothered me) then the second. But the story line starts with the first, so I still say you should start there. I would imagine that Revelations would make no sense without playing at least AC2 and Brotherhood first.

Just like I tell everyone to start with either 7, 8, or 9 when picking up FF for the first time. Not quite as classic as 6, but I find the original PS1 lineup easier for people to get into.

ArtyKay 12-16-2011 10:23 AM

The PS FF games are the only ones I've ever played.

And HOLD THE PHONE! City of Heroes is free now, I'm downloading it right now!

Great...I'm not going to get any sleep today. Oh well. :D I'll just take a nap before work tonight. .

LaceyCen - I've been playing video games since I was old enough to hold a controller too ;) I can thank my Dad for that!

OMG another huge FMA fan <333 And yeah I'm super obsessed with Edward, but I love Roy too. My friends have moved on to other anime but I'm stuck here :joker:

I still have to play Skyward Sword (I have it but Skyrim has been taking all the time I have)…if it's THAT good (OOT is my favorite game too) then I need to move it!

ArtyKay - start with the first game! They're pretty much one after the other (literally, AC2 picks up exactly where AC1 left off for example) and you might be lost if you don't.

LaceyCen 12-16-2011 11:17 AM

sontaikle - Same here, my parents were gamers before they had children!

I love Edward as well, just not on the Roy-obsession level. Edward's courage and determination helped me when I was younger, and I still think of FMA quotes to help me keep going! And I know how you feel about friends moving on, I think I bore them since I still love FMA more than anything. (And I don't plan on moving on.)

I made a point to never try Skyrim. I'm one of those crazy-obsessive completionists, and I really don't want to find another game that I have to spend 100+ hours to get my platinum. FF13 took long enough, and I didn't even like it that much. And as for Skyward Sword, I'm not very far into it, but it's a very wonderful game so far.

ArtyKay - FF10 was (again, IMO) a very amazing game. Some people disliked it because of linearity, but it had one of the most beautiful stories I've ever experienced in a game. I definitely recommend it.

Haha gamer parents! :) My Dad still plays. It makes it easy to get him birthday/Christmas presents. My mom is always asking me what she can get him.

I love FMA for the same reason. I have a whole list of quotes I read all the time to pick me up <3 FMA also got me through high school and some really tough times :)

I love Ed because he's similar to me, even down to some of his faults. I try to live like him and ignore what's been told is impossible or hard to do and try anyway :)

Omg me too :< This is why I got Skyrim for the Xbox. I have to share the Xbox with my brother and my Dad so I get kicked off when I've been playing too long. The fact that I get obsessive about games is the reason I never played WoW.

My dad does, too. When I bought him Arkham City, he was like a kid in a candy store.

I'm guessing we must be around the same age, because it helped me through high school, too. :)

I've always identified with Edward way, way too much (even if not the height)! I think my love for Roy came about because he keeps his eyes on his dream, no matter what. He took a horrible point in his life, and let it shape him into a better person.

Funny thing, FMA made me know what I wanted my university major to be. Chemistry is the modern-day version of alchemy, after all. ;)

The only MMORPG I played was Ragnarok Online, and my obsessive-ness got me in trouble with it. It was pretty much taking over my life. Now I won't touch them with a ten-foot pole.

I still think FF8 is the best Final Fantasy...maybe it's because it's the first one I played and I fell so head over heals in love with it! It was also the first RPG I played too! 10 is also an amazing game, I think it could be my second favourite...but I did love 7. I <3 the music too, To Zanarkand is an amazing song.

LaceyCen 12-17-2011 02:12 AM

Riestrella - FF8 will always be my favorite, for the same reasons you mentioned. It was my first FF and RPG, and I'll always have special feelings for it. FF10 and FF7 both fought for second in my heart, but 7 won. The whole world of FF7 just amazes me, and the Compilation just made me love the characters more than I already did. (...must not geek out over love for FF7 characters)

The characters in FF7 are awesome... Geek out all you want! I know I do. I may be an underdog here, but my favorite is FF9. 7 & 10 are very close seconds.

FF8 was the first FF game I've played as well. I got into them pretty late and admittedly I never stuck with them for very long. I think its cause I grew up playing oldschool rpg/adventure games on the PC rather than console games (Monkey Islands, King's Quests, Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle, Leisure Suit Larry, etc. Ah, the days of Sierra vs Lucas Arts.) Please tell me I'm not the only one who remembers those 16 bit and over games...

Hmm, wonder if we should have an anime/manga thread too. I've always been a huge fan of Studio Ghibli (I grew up watching/reading Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and Lupin the third!) I really enjoyed FMA but for some reason I couldn't stick with it. I have a short attention span and a lot of series that end up being more than 20 episodes I would eventually lose interest. Same thing happened with me and Naruto.

Perhaps I am the odd man out but I never could get into JRPGs. Have no clue why!

After Oblivion (then Fallout) I told myself I would never let another game steal that much of my life again; although I ran out and got Skyrim when I could. I might have to put in for vacation time just to play it..lol! Though when Mass Effect 3 drops I will most definitely be taking off. Anyone else take days off around or on the day of launch?

Wondering if any of you have steam? Could always use new friends :)

tea2 04-12-2012 06:26 PM

I like strategy like Age of Empires and city-building games, RPGs, and the Sims. I play WOW too (not all that often--I don't even have a char at lvl 85 yet, lol, and I have been playing for a number of years. Many alts, tho).

I've been playing Skyrim and Sims3 and a couple of old city building games for nostalgia's sake.

Nadya 04-12-2012 06:45 PM

I game but I'm not really playing anything at the moment. I was pretty heavily into WoW and then I kinda just...got burned out. I keep thinking, "I should start my account up again..." but then I never quite make it through all the steps.

I'm thinking of setting my PS3 up and giving that a whirl though. I loooove playing Plants Vs Zombies, that game is so cute and fun!

pluckypear 04-13-2012 03:29 PM

My husband got me into xbox 360. I still love Left for Dead 1 and 2. We are offline gamers and it sucks there are not many good offline co-op. I am a zombie fan so anything zombie I love but I love a storyline too. Not up with all the terminolgy though. I am now playing Operation Racoon City and love it but wish it had offline co-op. I also am a Resident Evil fan all around and hear 6 is due out in the fall with offline co-op. yeah! Cannot wait for new Left for Dead but not holding my breath for it anytime soon.

I tried Silent Hill but got bored of it before finishing it.

Any recommendations for offline co-op for xbox 360??

Thanks.
