Cell Phone Service

I have been unhappy with Sprint; I have had 4 replacement phones in about 6 months! Mainly it has been hardware issues, call clarity, dropped calls. I can hear better on my TracFone then on the Sprint Blackberry but the TracFone has limits on long distance. Today I tried to turn on the Sprint Blackberry and it wouldn't turn on, and I have only had this replacement Blackberry about 2 weeks :?: So because I have a decent amount of credit dollars on my Sprint account, I am debating switching to another carrier, either AT and T or Verizon. They both have the IPhone which I hear is great. Verizon is about $20 to $30 more a month and I'm not sure who to go with. I used to be a Cingular customer years back but I stopped it and went with my landline. I tried T-Mobile too, twice actually and they were not so great- I think my coverage area inside my apartment building is bad, but the hardware issues with Sprint shouldn't be happening.

If you don't mind my asking, who do you have for your cell service if you have cell service and who do you like in your experience?

I have Straight Talk which uses Verizon network, and I love it. It gives me all the minutes and text messaging I want for $45 a month and no contract. I know they have a smart phone, but since I'm not that current or in need of anything fancy, I don't know much more than what I just said.

I have a Tracfone and love it, no contract and I have enough minutes and air time for a long time. I only buy air time about every three months. No monthly bill. Suits me just fine.

Virgin Mobile. No contract, $25 a mo for (I think)300 minutes, which I never use, and unlimited texting which I use a lot. Plus, unlimited web! They have a few really nice phones too. Mine is a touch screen. They use the Sprint network so coverage has been great in my experience. Guess it depends on location though.

I have had Verizon for the last 4 months both my husband and I wanted the new IPhone 4 and my brother has had At&T for the past 2+ yrs and has always complained about the dropped calls. So far with Verizon compared side by side with my brother's At&T IPhone 4 we definitely get better service and very rarely drop calls. I live in a very small town and reception is great. Only downside? The IPhone 4 won't be getting the 4G/LTE upgrade but it is pretty fast with the 3G service we have now.

There really wasn't too much of a price difference on T-mobile we had grandfathered into the 5 faves plan with unlimited text and web and were paying after taxes close to $200 (that was for 2 lines) and with Verizon (3 lines) 1400 mins unlimited calling to 10 numbers (land line or cell) unlimited text and web we pay $251.

As for the IPhone 4 I'm in love with my phone and it never leaves my side, has tons of apps that I use for my weight loss and for general entertainment but I'm kind of a geek like that :D It just depends on what you are looking for in a phone. I have also heard good things about the Droid 2 and its app store as well.

Had Cingular moved and for some reason started having dropped calls etc. switched to Verizon and had it for almost 4 years and never had a problem except for where son lives...can't get a signal for nothing! My mother lives in the middle of nowhere in AR and even got a GREAT signal there! Unfortunately had to move and wouldn't ya know where son lives and we had to change over to AT & T...been 5 months and so far no problems, it's actually a little cheaper than verizon too! But given the choice I would rather have my verizon back.

I have t-mobile. I have unlimited minutes, internet and text for around $90/month. I just upgraded my phone and extended my contract. I got a sweet LG G2X touch phone, so far I love it. I've had t-mobile for 7 years and haven't had any issues with them.

I have Verizon and I have no complaints. I don't really have a choice, though, because they were the only US carrier that had a plan that doesn't charge me roaming when I'm in Mexico (which is where I live, but my husband works in the US, my extended family lives there, etc).

I have verizon! I swear by them! I'm a big smart phone type person.. so my Droid and I are quite happy on Verizon:)

I have Sprint and I hate it!!!! >:( My phones never last 2 years, so I have to upgrade my contract alot to get a new phone for cheaper. The service is alright, it depends on where you live but phones are CRAP!

update

Well...

I got AT and T 8 days ago, and while I love the iPhone, I am getting more dropped calls than I was with Sprint. They gave me a $20 credit on my account, and recommended I get a 'microcell tower' which they discounted for me 50%, so the customer service has been very nice. I am just frustrated because it's not the cell phone carrier, it's these darn thick walls of my apartment building that makes it so difficult for the cell phone signal to get through. I am going to get the microcell and then I have to get a router too. Ayiyi.

I'm on Sprint too and I have to say, I never had any problems with any phone like I did when I had a Blackberry. Even when they gave me a replacement, that one was always bugging out as well.

So I went Droid. No problems since! My HTC EVO is my best friend.

Really? I have Sprint, and have always been "pretty" happy with my phones. They always last 2+ plus years. I do get a dropped call now and then, but it's not terrible. I have been thinking about switching carriers, to stop those couple dropped calls though. It will be hard as Verizon is about $30 more a month than sprint.

I have Straight Talk and I love it. For $45 mth you get all you can use! Only thing is you have to buy your own phone and if something happens to it...you just have to buy another one. Way better than having a contract though in my opinion! Also, I have never had a problem service!

Suzanne 3FC 06-21-2011 11:25 AM

Sunlover, I know a lot of people that use StraightTalk and love it! Unlimited phone, text, and data for $45 a month! The $30 plan includes 1000 minutes, 1000 texts, and some data (not sure how much.) In comparison, I pay $80 for my iPhone with ATT and get 550 minutes and 200 texts per month. I love my iPhone but I'm counting down the days till my contract ends and I'm cancelling it.
